What age is old enough to get my daughter's ears pierced?

My daughter is 7 and wants to feel a little bit more grown up. I told her that I would consider getting her ears pierced over her Easter vacation in a week or so. I figured that then would be a good time so that her ears would have some time to heal before she went back to school on April 9th. I wondered afterwards if 7 might be too young but I know I've seen some kids much younger than her that have their ears pierced. What age do you think is old enough?

She is old enough. My grand daughter got hers peirced at six months. My oldest daughter was five and my youngest a year old. When you get them done as babies they don't seem to bother them as much. At seven she should be able to understand what to do to take care of them. Good Luck.

my mother made me wait until i was thirteen before she allowed me to get my ears pierced. however, this was 1980/1981. i understand today is different, still 7 is to me rather young. children like to roughhouse and it seems that you can get your ears ripped very easily...

I understand that but I also know that ears can get ripped even without the roughhousing. When I was around 16 or 17 I tried a pair of the self-piercing earrings. (I don't think you can even get those now.) Anyway, I had them in and one snagged on my pillowcase in my sleep. I woke up the next morning with blood on my pillowcase and the earring out of my ear and caught in my hair. I didn't finally try to get it done professionally until I was 18. To this day I still only have one hole in each earlobe. Never wanted more than that.

I got mine done when I was six and my mom made me wait until I was fourteen before I got them double pierced. When I got my upper left ear pierced at 18, she flipped out. LOL. But yeah, I think it's a good idea to wait until her break and I don't think she's too young.

I had considered waiting until about 11 or 12 but she's wanted this for over a year now even though I've told her it will hurt for a while. That's why I decided to do it during the Easter break before it was too warm outside. I thought she'd be less uncomfortable if she didn't have her ears all sweaty.
