Okay, I thought that this would be a great way to share writing ideas. I write for Associated Content and sometimes I run out of ideas to write about. Whenever I do this I serve through their forums and articles looking for ideas. You can find great ideas by doing this and you should know by now that even if two or more writers are writing about the same thing, they always come out different. No two writers write alike. Do you have any ideas for writing?

There are also times when I ran out of something to write about especially when you have already said almost everything. And when you try to search, there are already people writing about it. But I believe that's how challenging could writing be. No matter how common the topic is, the way you have written it would always be different with others, no matter if you have the same idea. Unless of course if someone copies your writing, that's another story. :)

I agree. I once had a writer tell me that when she first started out with writing, she would take someones article and make it her own. She still does this when she can't think of anything to write about. She doesn't copy them, she just uses some of their ideas and does her own research.

Keep looking around, like in articles or enclyopedia or something to give ideas about your reports, maybe give more details in the reports and keep thinking, try msn news, yahoo, nbc all types of sources

Now you sound like my husband.lol. He keeps telling me to look into news articles and search the web for ideas. I guess that it wouldn't hurt anything.

I have been writing down ideas from MyLot for brain starters. I havent used them yet, but if I answer a question on here (or not) and I think its a good idea I keep it in my to write about later on. Always keep a notebook nearby while going on MyLot.

If you didn't understand my problem, then you should have wrote me a personal message. I think that I was very clear on my discussion starter. We are all searching for ways to make it easier to jump out of writers block.

Associated Content is a place where people can write articles and get published. You have to be a US citizen in order to get paid for your work but anyone can write there.

I would say anything about war would be a winner ..Anything about what is current ..and reality shows ..or soap talk would be good..only because many people are interested in such things;)

I'm not a writer, but love to read. First off I think that you should write only what you know about though experience. It is more effective. Second, you should write about what people are interested in reading about. Usually, pets, kids, receipes, crimes, and it would be nice for some miracle happy stories. I hope I helped a little. Good luck sugar.

You may not consider yourself a writer but you can defiantly come up with some topics.

Most of the time, my problem is not coming up with articles, but instead sitting down to write them. I get so many ideas because I read everything, sometimes even things I am not interested in. I know it sounds crazy, but there is always a writing hook in there somewhere. Just today I got to thinking about spam (emails) and how doing an examination of some of the spam I get might be interesting. For example, if everyone throws them away, why do they keep coming. Someone out there must be responding. I think that the ideas are just everywhere you look. I guess what mostly prompts me to look at a topic further is what I read in the newspaper or magazines. Sometimes I tear things out and hang on to the articles, then go back and see if I am still interested in the topic or if it still has legs (meaning) months later. I suggest that everyone keep a file folder with story ideas. It's useful to underline key phrases or write small notes on them sometimes, too, so that you remember why this attracted you when you look back at the article later.

this is a great idea. I have heard of a lot of people keeping a file with different ideas and articles that they can later look at. I keep everything in a notebook on top of my computer. Sometimes it is easy for me to write and other times it just seems like more of a hassle.

if you have run out of ideas then why not relax and stroll around or even travel to a nearby town where you can see different people

that is a good idea but I can't relax when I have to get my articles out there as soon as possible.

What you do is take a day and go on a bus ride. On that bus, notice everything: how you feel, how the driver looks, how the riders look, the neighborhoods, the sun, the skies, the traffic everything. Jot down notes on that. Then, go home and watch a movie that challenges you (I don't know you so I can't say). Then go to sleep. Have a dream...or not. The next day, you should have plenty to write.

I found this interesting enough. Is this what you do when you have a serious case of writers block?

I have noticed that discussions about kids, abortion, laws, religion, health concerns and love get a lot of replies. Also, just things that concern many people, things people read and can't help but say something about.

I can see how these would be good discussions. I have written a few about kids and was paid descent for them.

I would need at least one question to get started. Would you pay me half your salary to write all the stuff you have to write? I'm Bipolar so I can't get hired.

I do love writing lots of things about so many things.. And so, i wanna share with you about on what im doing, so i am not running out of topic to discuss about.. Just get a pen a paper with you always, or even use ur phone to write some topics that you've think while ur doing something.. Make a note about something that you feel it would be more interesting for others to share with... Then get those notes you made then post them here in mylot when u get a chance!

That is a great idea. I also use mylot when I am trying to write something, I will post a question up about it and get responses and ideas that I can later use. I need to take your advice and carry a notebook around more often.

It really depends on you knowledge of stuff. Some people are very good thinkers, they can come out with a lot of stories for kids or general fiction. Some people with past life experiences come out with bibliographies. Some with extensive knowledge come out with their professional books. Attack a certain area, and develop awareness and knowledge about it.

Ideas comes from free mind not from a mind full of tensions, so what i would suggest is free your woories and see the result. We are always there to help our fellow mylot members.
