I'm irritated!

Why do people respond to discussions that they know nothing about? I am irritated! If you don't relate...don't respond is my motto.I am not into responding to other discussions if I don't have a clue what people are talking about and don't understand the people that respond and say "I really don't know what you're talking about", or "gee I just don't have an answer for you on this".....If you don't get it...then find a topic you understand and can offer some worth to. This is very irritating to me! (sorry I'm venting!)

I know how irritating that can get. I have had a lot of similar replies to some of my topics. Or another one that I love is when people post something completely irrelevant to your topic, especially when it looks like they just copied and pasted it from some other discussion.

Yeah maybe we should respond to them by saying "Duh" and give them a big fat (-)...lol...it's irritating...

I do tend to give them a negative rating when they post something really pointless or irrelevant. If it's REALLY obvious that it's a copy and paste job where they are just spamming, I sometimes report it to the admin.

I feel the same way you do paradisesuns. If I can't relate or give a good response to a discussion I don't. I only choose the topics I know about and pass over the others. Just don't get too annoyed about the others or you'll get wrinkles too soon. (LOL)

I hear ya on that complaint, believe me. Sometimes I'll go to check my responses and get a few pages back to find that my new responder left a totally irrelevant message. Grrrr... Vent on!

I been saying this for the longest. I totally agree with you. I think it's stupid to respond to something you don't even know what the discussion is actually about. There seems to be a lot of discussions lately that for me doesn't make any sense at all. Wish there was more interesting discussions, instead about the one liners, or the discussions that could be easily responded with maybe two sentences. Glad again, that I'm not the only one that doesn't do this and tired of it.

I saw one response that was copied and pasted from Wikipedia. One whole article long. How did I know it was from Wikipedia? Because it concerns one of my favorite topics! I've just signed up with myLot and I don't know how you guys handle these kinds of posts, but in my opinion you shouldn't allow it, because whatever you or the author say, it's still unoriginal material. Unless of course he can give proof that he was the one who wrote the whole article. I don't know if this is commonly done here (after all, I've just been here for a few hours, but just the same, I don't agree to it, and I sure hope you guys don't as well.

I'm sorry I know nothing about this discussion, but I shall reply anyway..doh!! earning peanuts and cents is far outweighing the quality of some peoples replies.

Yes paradiseuns, this is so annyoing if you get a response which is not related to your topic. I just simply rate them negative. They think that they are smart enough to earn some penny by writing anything. They don't have even respect for themself, that's why they make fun of them on their own. It's rediculous.

You're right. Some don't even post a question for you to respond so you can explain it. They just put 'I don't know' or something inane like 'I rock!'

I sure hope that I didn't respond to any of your discussions without quality and relating to the topic at hand. I skip over those. I cannot respond to things that I know nothing about. You cannot respond with quality or more than a couple of sentences on those anyway. That is a waist of time also to yourself for earnings and it is a waist of time for whoever started the discussions to stop and read something that makes no sense. I agree that it is very irritating and people only do it to rack up their number of posts.

Oh, paradisesuns...I've been here at mylot for a month now. I always analyze and dissect each discussion properly before giving in my sensible response. Recently, I respond to a friend's discussion and a good fellow mylotter pointed out to me that I misunderstood the question. I was so embarrassed that I kept apologizing to the poster. I really didn't have no intention of messing the thread. I also have my fair share of responses that are not related to my topics. Some will said they don't understand my thread. I will just ignore it and move down to the next response.

I initially thought it was new members who posted inane responses such as "I dunno" or "I am not sure" (what was the point of even responding then?) but I've seen people with 1000s of posts to their name posting responses like that which really surprised me. I hope some of those muppets are reading this thread and get the message - don't waste your time, you'll get a negative rating which certainly won't increase your earnings and will certainly reduce your star rating too!

It's not like there's any lack of discussions on here. Move it along to one you can add value to, people!

I agree perhaps that is what the minus button is for. Not for the roving ones that mark you for when they don't agree with you. Maybe there should not be a plain top poster page. Should be based on quality and content and numbers. I know some are a 7 and a top user. Don't make sense to me. There are a few things that could improve Mylot. Hope sometime in the future they are fixed. I can appreciate the emotions you have shared.

I so can relate. Their are so many discussions to respond to that if you don't have something to add to a discussion move to the next until you find one you can say something of substance to. Some people are only here for the pennies and don't get that if they really applied themselves they would actually earn more than responding with nonsense posts. I mark them negative every time as mylot states not to answer discussions with I don't know. We all have to vent from time to time so no worries on this end. Hope the little vent made you feel better and know that your not alone in that vent. :)

Yes, it does irritate a bit when you get people writing about five words of no worth and usually three of those words are mispelt and the other two written in text lingo.

Well dear if you go by those words then can you tell me why have you started this discussion for? You just have to read the discussion and respond if you want to, whats the need to read what other's are writing. I only read the discussion and if I feel like discussing or sharing my views about the topic then I just respond and move ahead irrespective of what al others are writing.

c'mon! You know the answer why. And there's nothing you can do about it. But, also sometimes maybe other people understood the topic in a diffirent way, and so their replies are also different from how you understood the topic. Again, there is nothing you can do about it. So just let it go. Dont read. And dont rate. Unfortunately, those who made discussions cant delete the replies on their discussion. Maybe you we can request for that.
