How do I stop the tantrums?

March 22, 2007 7:40am CST
My two year old seems so angry all the time and I am worn out... I have two older kids and they were never like this. She shouts even though I discipline her (as much as you can with a two year old!) but she just gets soo angry.... we have set routines etc and I spend a lot of time with her .... any ideas?

Cool her down with a glass of cool water in the face. It won't hurt her but she will be so surprised that she will stop. do it ever time she even looks like she is going shout or yell. about the third time all you have to do is ask her if she wants to wear the water. Then all you have to do is lok at the glass. I guarentee that this will work. It worked on my daughter of that age. She would through herself on the the floor and thrash around. This stopped her in her tracks.

You brought back memories. When my older daughter was two, (she is now almost 24) she was like that. It was a battle of wills for a full year, then as suddenly as her tantrums started they stopped, and she became the most loving, sweet little girl. I noticed she threw more tantrums when she was disturbed by something, like when her schedule was disrupted, or when she was really tired. I would often just put her in her bed and she would eventually fall asleep, waking a couple hours later with a much better disposition.

when my 2 year old would get mad he would cry and cry and cry so load and i tried but nothing worked so i started to just let him go. he would yell and i would not answer him till he was done with his fit. it is getting better cuz he knows he gets no attetion at all till he is done. it was worth a try and he is getting better about. my oldest was never like that either and i hope my youngest isn't either. good luck
