If you could choose one of these things. Which would you choose. 1. Winning one million dollars 2. Having a great paying job that you loved and you could live comfortably on your salary 3. Not a lot of money but getting to travel the world and doing what you want. I would choose number two because although the first one is tempting. You could run out of money very easily. OK, Your turn. Which would you choose and why?

I'd definitely go for the job that I loved. If you can't be happy in what you do for a living, how can you be happy at all?

Well my answer is a little complicated. I think I would pick number 1, as I already have a job that I love, I own a small jewelry shop, and if I had that million dollars, I would build my shop up more and get more successful, so I guess that is my answer. Good discussion!

Number one, with that amount of cash I could generate an income from investments and travel the world doing what I want and give money away to help people all the best urban

I would choose number 1 because I consider myself a great investor. I didn't choose number 2 because I would rather work for myself than someone else.

Easy for me :) I'd take #1. It's harder than it sounds to run out of money if you've got a million sitting in the bank. It costs me less than $9,000 per year to live -- that's rent, insurance, electric, cell phone, broadband, and groceries. That's nothing :) The interest alone on even $500,000 would keep that going, but even if I bought a $300,000 house and paid off every debt I'd still be able to cheerfully live on the interest for the rest of my days.

yes, but some people would spend it all quick by splurging. if you do it the way you say then yep it works

I think I would have to go with choice 2. Choice 1 would result in tax deduction, and would be spent more freely. Choice 3 would be pointless, because you couldn't afford to stay in the places that you were visiting, nor afford any souvenirs of your travels. Choice 2 is nice, because living comfortable is all that matters, and if you save up, you can travel the world or have a million dollars anyway.

For me it would be number one definitely, if you were wise and frugal and good at investing then no you wouldn't run out of money easily because the amount of interest you'd get if you invested just half of that money, you could probably live off the interest! Oh if only, give me the opportunity!

I think i would choose number 2...having a great job would be rewarding...living within ones income can be a challenge but i think it is the right way to do it....i am currently working on becoming debt free...if i dont have the cash i dont buy it

Option 1 please. I would get the million working for me and spend some of the interest. I would need to keep working to pay most of the bills. A million is not a huge amount of money these days, I mean my house is worth about half that and it is not special. Maybe a billion - now you're talking big bucks at todays rates.

I agree with your reasons for #2 but I would pick #1 - I would let my step-father council me on what to do with the money so that it didn't run out - he is a very very wise man and I trust his advise. I can think of a million and one things I would rather be doing that working and having that much money I would certainly be able to do most of them, work interfers with my 'want-to-do's.

Let me think for awhile...This is tough.(",) Okay, I'm ready. I think, I'll go for numver 1 because winning a 1 million dollars is a great amount here in the Philippines. With this money, I can start a business which I love doing and when that business will bloom, I'll be able to earn alot more and since, I'm the boss, I can get to travel as well. I think I wont be able to ran out of money if I will use it wisely and also I will share my blessings to others. Thanks, you made me analyze for awhile.(",)

I think I echo your thoughts about #2. For me, winning a million dollars would be great, but that could easily run out in today's inflated world. I would have to invest like, at least half of it and even then I would still be worried. I'd probably end up working anyways. With 3, I would be worried about living. I am a worrier by nature and that would give me fits. So for me, it'd have to be #2.

#2- I don't wish to be given things, but I would like a job that I liked that paid enough for me to live comfortably. There is a funny thing about winning money - easy come, easy go. People who win or receive money don't appreciate it, or they thing they can invest it or make much more with their own companies - investing is risky, butnot near as risky as starting your own company. And a million dollars in the US is not all that much.

Deffinatly number 2.. Infact that is what I am doing right now with working from home with a company that has really put the sparkle back into my life. OK Im only commission based where my income is, but getting out to meet others from time to time I find totally rewarding too Lynn-Marie

hmmmmmmm even the questions indicate a weird attitude about money to me if you had even a quarter million and ran out of money, you were being very stupid. if you love your job, theoretically you would want to do it, however much it paid, $2 an hour or $200. you said one you ENJOY, maybe call it a hobby instead if you are confused at my attitude travel could be fun, usually even you want to live cheap when travelling, it takes more money, like at least $50 per day per person, if you are kind and in a poor place then twice that. For tavel its worth figuring out exactly WHAT you enjoy, what exactly is DOING WHAT YOU WANT. Ten hos, or a sandwich, it makes a big difference.
