What is it and how does it work???

I'm totally confused by the star rating system. I used to be a 9, then dropped to a 7, 5, 3, 4, 3. I do not respond with short meaningless answers and for the most believe I stay within the perameters of respectfull posting. I have noticed that I am not the only one effected in this way, not that I lose any sleep over it, but it is a challenge to comprehend! I tested the posting effects and responded unfavourably to only one discussion, involving a pic of a man with his pants down aroun his knees with what looked like toilet paper sticking out from his bare buttocks, and make NO appologies for the comment I posted and still find it discusting! I post and 8 rating points disappear!!!! Boy if only one good post could earn me as many + points!!!
Has anyone else tried to determine why their star rating has fallen and attributed it to the one instance??

Like you, I don't know how the star system works.
I try to keep within the parameters as well, and find that mine stays about the same.
Can you please give me the thread with the picture, and I will see what your post was.
I might even agree with you on it.
I find it very confusing, as I do the actual earning system.
I read somewhere that we get a certain amount per response.
If this is the case, stuff the star system, and respond to as many posts as possible, in order to increase the money.
I am here to make money, of course, but I am also here to help people, and be helped by different things.

Contacting "myLot" does not help. I have done so several times with questions and suggestions about the star system. They have never responed to me. When they have responded to others their response is something along the lines of your star rating is most likely an accurate reflection of what other mylotters think of your posts. When you ask how could other mylotters think I'm a 9 for months and then I am a 2 within 1 month, they have no answer as they do not answer.

The answer is quite easy, someone is deliberately targeting some people and even banding in unison to do it!! lol... Shame it doesn't effect me or some of the others, but what it does is expose a weakness in the star rating system!

Seriously, while I have had some controversial threads, I do not see where you have. The drop in your rating is absolutely without merit. I have no clue what is going on.
However, since I am having fun, and contrary to opinion, your star rating does not affect your payout that I can tell, it is best to just forget about it.
My guess as to an explanation is that there are some very passive aggressive low socially skilled individuals here for whom unfairly targeting people is just their way of having fun.
Such people will always be with us. They are very unhappy people. I guess we could pray for them, but other than that, there is not much to do.

I know this is getting to be a bit "old hat" now red, but I don't like the fact that ppl have a uncontrlled ability to be vindictive!

Sorry Eagle that I myself cannot give you any light as to why this happens and would be interested to know that if people do go around giving negatives does this have the affect on the star! As their could be some who would consider it humorous to do it just for the sake of it and therefore the rating would be dropping quite a bit. Am hoping you will receive some explanation to your question as nothing worse than losing sleep over it I say! lol

This star rating appears to be a complex
thing and is confusing all . It basically
denotes our activity on this site . We need
not worry much about it .
My star rating also twinkling like a star
and it is down and up and down and down ...
