Just out of curiousity, how many of you would be interested in a never ending e-book? You know, the type of book that you recieved a few new chapters every week. I guess it's almost like a soap opera. I heard about it and am quite interested. What about you???

Sounds a bit like the way I write my books. I never want them to end. I've done 5 e-books myself, and you do have to have something called "a book" to upload it. Where do you start from? An intro, then a few chapters at a time? Or just upload the intro, and fire off the chapters, like a subscription? It could work, but you'd wind up with a trail of people to send the new chapters to, and a lot of keeping track of people and things. From a writer's perspective, it could be quite a hassle. For readers, it would mean getting periodic downloads, and they'd have to wait for the new stuff. A few chapters a week could turn into quite a workload for the writer, too. Not quite the same thing as a single book or a series. I've done three in a series and am working on a fourth. The books form "chapters" of a bigger story. Admittedly, some formats, like soaps, whodunits, and some humor, you probably could do like that, because you can separate incidents and events, like screenwriting. Don't know if it would necessarily work for big storyline things like HP or some of the modern saga-type books.

I am a writer as well. I've published a novel and have already been advanced to release my next this June. I tend to agree with you. But I am sorry to say that it sounds as if you thought it was my idea. In a sense I wish it was, because I am sure it's doing well at only 5 bucks a month. There's alot of buzz about it going around my school. If your work is any good you should start looking for an agent. I signed with my agent and within 6 months she had me at the Book Expo 2006 and I am there again this June 1, 2,and 3. Well you're a writer theres no need for me to babble on about the Expo. You know how huge that is. I want to give you her name but I am afraid to break the mylot rule. Did you read the post from a few days ago? Oh my goodness, they aren't playing around. Sorry but I wish you the best of luck.

seemed like a good idea at first, like a series but never having an ending will make it boring and dragging dont you think?

I become impatient with long newsletters I receive in my email. I can only stare at the text of a document for so long. Although the concept sounds intriguing, I'm not sure whether I would read it. I have not gone the e-books route yet. I love holding a book in my hands when I am reading it. But the chapter a week soap opera type of deal sounds neat.

It depends on the kind of book it is. It depends on if it is free. It depends on if it is well-written.

I was actually looking in to something like that for my latest e-book however would leave out the last 3-5 chapters and then would have make the people buy it in order to get the remaining chapters which if the information was powerful enough I'm sure they would. Many authors of different e-books out there have release the first 1-3 chapters of their e-books for free with the same intention of people wanting to buy the complete thing in order to complete their reading.

I am a writer but I haven't gotten into the whole e-book thing. I prefer my advancements and royalties. However, when I heard of what this man was doing, I was somewhat interested in reading it.
