Getting a new pet

Three years ago, my cat of 18 years finally died. I'd like to get a new cat, by I have a very active three year old who is not always gentle. What would be a good age to get a new pet with that consideration?

Sorry for the loss. I would suggest mabye when your child is able to walk and understand its not a toy. I got my first cat when I was 5, and I understood then. So mabye 4-5?

Im sarry about your cat, 18 years is indeed a long year for a cat's life. I also lost my dog two years ago and I was really hurt about it that i have decided not to get a new one. Its just too painful when they leave us behind.

Well I think kids a pretty good at learning at 3years of age, I think it is a good time to teach them how to be gentle and how to treat animals, I think you should get a little cat for your little one.
