my kids are now almost young men - unless you ask them! - now when i was their age i knew for a fact that my parents had real bad taste in music, bands like GLEN MILLER, CLIFF RICHARD, VAL DOONICAN etc. i mean come on, people dont even know who i'm talking about with that list. me i like queen, sabbath etc. and quite a bit of newish stuff, so how come i'm old fashioned? personally i reckon my kids are just joking around (i hope) 'cos you can't actually compare the 2 lists. but, saying that me and my boys (13 & 15) do have a good laugh and poke fun at each other all the time, and me? i like that. just thought i'd share that

I like the stuff I've always liked (AC/DC, The Smiths, The Clash, etc) plus I like a lot of new music too but my daughter (who is grown up now) always thought my musical taste was rubbish and in fact she still does. What I can never understand is how she grew up in a house listening to the music that I liked and emerged from it all as Kylie Minogue's number one fan!! I suspect she's always viewed me as a fairly embarassing mother because I still go to gigs and punk festivals etc much to her amusement. There again if I think about the music my parents liked it was the Beatles, The Animals, The Stones - at the time I used to say it was cr*p but now of course it's a different story.

LOL. I thought that was funny. My parents listened to Santana ALOT when I was growing up. My mom had a serious thing for them. Then in the 80s my mom had a thing for Prince so I got to listen to alot of him. I liked a bit of everything from Duran Duran (ok, so I had a thing for John Taylor) to The Misfits (ok, I had a thing for Glen Danzig too). I went really gothic in the early 90s and now, I just listen to whatever fits my mood. Flyleaf, HIM, AFI, Shakira. I like it all. My kid...he's 4. He loves anything he can dance to!
