yeah you can cook and sore in freezer.nothing bad in that.Teach to your husband how to basic cooking if he is intrested in,so that he wont face any problem for the rest of the time.Anyway you can't arrage food for whole three months.I guess you are an indian ,so some of the indain cooking more easy to cook and less time to spend.

It sounds to me like you are in a tough postition. It is hard to take care of your husband and an ill parent at the same time. I have been in your shoes and can sympathize. It is a great idea to prepare meals ahead of time and store them in the freezer for your husband. What more can you do? Don't feel too bad about it. You are only one person and can't be in more that one place at a time.

You can do it, and he will appreciate the extra love you leave for him in the freezer. I often fix two weeks worth of food at a time, and pack our lunches, and freeze some. You might find you enjoy the time it saves. Of course it is hard now, as you are anxious to leave.

You are going to cook for a month and will put them in the freezer? Wow! It's my first time to read such statement. Well, I cannot guarantee you that it is good because you are going to store the food in the freezer for a month. Why not get an opinion from an expert? So that you will know if it's really good or not. I'm just concern for your husband's health...

Hey seawaves, I'm gonna be in the same situation in a few weeks time when I'm gonna fly overseas to visit my parents and the rest of the family. I'm worried about hubby dear too, how he will manage with the food..lol I too plan to make food in advance and freeze it so he can use it whenever. I think its a good thing to do than let these men eat out everyday. That way we too won't feel guilty about not being here to take care of them. After all eating good meals is important. And don't worry, I'm sure your hubby will manage. Have a safe and fun trip!:)

You can do it!!! I know lots of moms who cook once every two weeks. They store casseroles, soups, and marinated meats in their freezers. All you need to supply that night is some veggies and maybe bread and you're ready to go! Jus be sure to make a map of your freezer or clearly mark everything with directions and labels. Plus, you know your hubby will be eating well (instead of just grabbing fast food every night). A friend of mine lays all her soups and meats flat on a cookie sheet in the freezer (inside the ziploc, of course) so then when they are hard you can just file them or stack them up. It takes up less space than the containers.

I started a thread a few weeks ago about make-ahead food, if you need some ideas. I brainstorming is the hardest part!

Hello seawaves. I can see that you are looking forward to this vacation very much. The excitement is written in between all the lines you have written here. I can see that you are bringing your daughter along. You are very busy cooking because you want to make sure that at least your husband will be comfortable while you are away. This way, you will not worry so much about his condition while you will be enjoying some months with your original family. All I can say is may you spend those vacation days happily with the people who matter so much to you. Good luck and happy trip. Don't worry so much about your husband he will pull through. I am very sure though that he will miss you and the kid. When you come home from the vacation, it will be your time to spend a wonderful time with your husband for a day or two. By then you must have missed each other so much already.

I think what you are doing for your hubby is commendable. I'm sure it will be an adjustment for him having you and your daughter gone for so long, so when you get frustrated with all this cooking and freezing, just think of how it will be appresiated by him and I'm sure every night when he reheats your meals he will miss you a little less because he knows you love him. I don't know if I would be able to do it. But luckily my hubby knows how to cook, although I doubt he'd do it just for himself! Have a safe and happy trip!
