I think it's your own derivation that people think about your motherland in any such misunderstanding. The indonetia is far below in correption rankings as per the survey made in 2006. You very well can explain the merit part of your beloved country to let the users in mylot know what exactly goes with your country. What are the good points we should see and read about Indonetia? I am waiting for your comment in this regard please. All the best from oarnamav.

I really appreciate your curiousity about my country. For your information, Indonesia isnt the 'champion' of corruption anymore. It is obvious to see that the government of Indonesia is seriously fighting against corruption. Now Indonesia has the lower numbers of corruption than China and India, plus half of our debt from IMF has already been paid. :)

Thank you for your wise comment. I'm glad there's such thought about my country. i'm sure every country has it's own bad and good sides. Indonesia has a very huge landscape and sea. This country gifted with abundant recources. WE indonesian have so many culture and ethnic. We have every languange for every ethnic, sometimes in same island we have more than 5 languages! People here are very nice and warm. They tend to help and care about each other, it's what we called "gotongroyong". If you build house than all your neighbour will help you. If you sick your neighbour will visit you, etc. Although this culture seems fading right now but i'm there's a lot people doing it especially those who live in village.

Although Indonesia is predominantly populated by Muslims and Philippines is predominantly Catholic, I guess we have lots of similarities. There are also bad news about Philippines, we are also branded corrupt, we have street political rallies and corrupt government officials. Indonesians and Filipinos are both friendly and hospitable people with a warm and sincere smile for everyone. :)

I'm not sure there is a country in the world that doesn't have some bad press every now and then. The U.S. sure get's its share! I did some research one time about traveling to Indionesia and it sounded fascinating. I liked the sound of the beautiful beaches, the exotic market places, the oriental architecture and the people and their customs. I certainly would like to visit there someday if I could.

Indonesia is a muslim country like mine. I am from Pakistan and its very sad that most of the Tsunami effected Indonesia. I don't know about the corruption but the thing I like most, so far as i know is that when a couple is married in Indonesia, they besides going on for honeymoon, they go for Hajj.

I used singapore as stepping stone to neighbouring countries. I went to the island of Sumatra. It was very exciting. I caught a boat to a port and was surrounded by many curious people. Some of them tried to touch my backpack. I was delighted to meet two Danish people at that moment. We travelled on towards Bukittingi. We got stuck in a town for one night. Apart from the motorbikes it was like going back one century. The journey continued in a rough way in a dangerous looking boat and very crowded bus. Getting to my hotel I noticed a note on the wall saying the bed had bed bugs and flees. I checked into another room. Bukittingi was so beautiful with its old buildings and considerable charm. I brought back a model of an Indonesian house and two costume dolls from there. Staying on the edge of the stunning Lake Toba was a magical experience. Swimming in the cool water of the lake was very relaxing. I loved seeing the houses there with such unusual curved roofs. The highlight was going to see the wild orangatans. Wow! The village was very basic with little wooden huts and washing was done in the local river. Medan was a very noisy and dirty city. The mistake I made was having a salad at the port before leaving for Malaysia. I was so very sick for the next couple of weeks. I would like to see more places in Indonesia. It is a beautiful and quite exciting country to travel in. I imagine Java is totally different to Sumatra. The most touristy spot would be Bali I guess.
