do you shy away from a controversial discussion on mylot because you don't want to be rated? I have noticed a few post about people worried about rating.I usually rate discussion i have really enjoy or learned from or to be honest my friends. But if you saw a discussion that you know there are going to be pros and cons to do you shy away from it because it will hurt your reputation.Just today I saw one of my friends post a discussion that was very difficult and some may judge her for but i thought it was so brave and showed strength of character not to worry about what people would think. I'm wondering how everyone else feels about this issue.. Cheryl

I don't shy away from controversial discussions I only shy away from a discussion if I have nothing to say. I read the responses and if all has been said I don't give me opinion because it will be repeating the same thing as others have stated. Good questions are great as it keeps Mylot an interesting place to be at.

Yeppers I sure have,,and its due to this new star rating system deal..I always gave my opinions on everything..and wasnt worried and untill now, people arent using the rating systems right at all,,.and mylot isnt doing anything about it and i dont think its very fair at all..people that get mad because other people are having different views..and then give them neg ratings..its rediculous! So now i have been very careful in what to respond to and it shouldnt be this way.

I avopid religious discussions of all types, as I am just not interested in getting involved in all the hype, and sometimes aggression people display. It has nothing to do with ratings. No discussion has ever influenced my ratings.

I'm glad to hear that hon and myself i avoid the religion aspect in conversations in real life as well as online..there is no sense to the shouting match i think.I don't avoid sticky issues either if i believe in something i have to say it otherwise I'm being dishonest to myself thanks for responding hon Cheryl

I've participated in several controversial discussions. A couple of them did hurt my rating for a while, but I wasn't really concerned. The main reason that I stay away from a lot of them now is because I just get tired of listening to people attack other people over some of the stuff.

some says that the most controversial issue discussed is the most talked about. Why shy away from those controversy when we are merely giving out our opinions? I know sometimes some discussion often hurt us. But that's a fact! We can't get away with it!

I have not shied away from a contraversial discussion yet here on mylot. I have actually started one myself. I feel that if we can't act like adults why are we even on here? I can give my opinion and discuss and issue without going ballistic on someone and I feel that we should all be able to do the same. I am not worried about being rated. It really does not matter to me. If people are going to rate me negatively for doing what is being asked of us by mylot then they are not following the rules, and that is not really my concern. I do not badger, slam, sling mud, or name call against anyone. I try to be as respectful as possible to anyone that I come across on here, and all that I ask is that people do the same. Thanks for the good topic.

Oh my no. If I didn't post to, or start up controversial discussions I think I'd have no fun on MyLot at all. :) I love debate, creating persuasive arguments and I'm VERY opinionated so controversial topics are great for me, since my opinion generally isn't the 'popular opinion'.
