I'm old so I can't figure it out It said I have to get some kind of platform? Why? What is that? Is it expensive? Then do you have to pay for the game too? Why is it good to obtain cheats? Please explain this to an old person , 43.

platform is the operating system of your computer. like windows xp, windows vista, linux, unix, etc. now, if you're interested in playing the sims or sims2, you need to buy an installation cd or dvd. then you install it in your computer, and play it. but before buying, you need to know first the system requirements of the game. meaning, the sims game, and likewise all other games, requires some particular software and hardware to be installed in your computer, and you need to have them before installing the game. regarding the cheats part, that depends on you if you want to use it or not. c",)

I think you are referring to the Sim City series of games? Yes you have to buy it somewhere - probably you can get it from eBay. Shouldn't be too expensive since they are all old already. Don't cheat... at least not till you have fully experienced the game without cheating. It's a nice game where you build cities and people come to stay. Comic relief. :P

no I had and still have that sim city game on a 1.44Meg floppy It was fun no floppy drive on the pc though I mean this new Sim game kids play now, whole groups of people, partying and stuff It looks like so much fun, I was too stoned during my teenage years and was friends with weird rich kids mostly. So I missed out on that. I might really enjoy it I think. No clue where to buy it or if I need a XBOX or whatever. Maybe the kids keep all that info secret. If the parents don't even know what they are doing, they can't regulate it. Thats it I bet, like don't trust anyone over 30 or something.

I have been in the past when I had time completely addicted to sims 2. cheats are fantastic, because the game has a couple of quirks, such as limited amount of cash, so it takes a long time to get anywhere, or only being able to invite 2 sims to a party. (yeah, you heard me right!;) and, as for operation, like the others said, have the right windows, and memory to run the program and it should be alot of fun!

In agreement with all of the other responses, a computer platform is another name for an operating system (a.k.a. "OS," as they are sometimes abbreviated). These would include Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista; and Mac Linux, I believe. If you have any of these "platforms," you can successfully run The Sims on your computer (given you have enough memory to run the game). If you don't have an operating system/platform, then I don't know what to tell you because your computer is probably not running! A computer can't run without one. If you have any computer issues, technical issues, and/or questions, just let me know and I'll do the best I can to help you! About the game itself... Maxis is the company that created and designed all of The Sims games. For PC (computer), there are 'The Sims' and 'The Sims2' versions of the game. The first one is the older version, which doesn't require as much memory. The second version came out a year or two ago, so it's more high-tech and needs more memory. If you have your choice of which version of the game to get, I'd definitely suggest going with 'The Sims2' as it has so many more features and expansion packs. I have this version along with all of the expansion packs, so you can check back with me if you purchase the game and have any questions whatsoever. Speaking of price, 'The Sims2' costs $39.99 for the main game; however, the makers of the game has come out with a better deal. You can purchase the main game along with one expansion back ('The Sims2 Nightlife' and/or 'The Sims2 Bon Voyage') for $39.99 or $49.99. This is the better deal, so try to get the game with the expansion pack. You can find these at Best Buy, Circuit City, EB Games, Gamestop, Walmart, etc. (just about anywhere that sells electronics and other various computer games). You may even be able to find a better deal online somewhere. You're probably wondering by now what an expansion pack is. It's basically an add-on to your already-existing game. It just adds more features, car, clothes, places to go, etc. to your existing Sims2 games. I know I mentioned about price already, but here's the breakdown: The main Sims2 game (you must have this before purchasing any expansion packs) - $39.99 Most expansion packs - $29.99 Some (smaller) expansion packs - $19.99 It may seem expensive, but now let me tell you about what you can do with this game. (It's obviously the best computer game ever released for me to purchase the entire game and all expansion packs as I'm very skeptical.) The Sims2 is a simulation game, which means you can create any scenario and have any outcome - there's no right or wrong way to do it! You run and rule the game. You can create characters to look however you want. There's quite a variety of clothing for your 'Sims' as they are called. You can create and change their personalities, you can make them fall in love, you can make them break up, you can make them fight, have an affair, starve themselves, drive a car, go shopping...the possibilities are endless. The graphics are amazing, and the game will be well worth your while. There's so much you can do with this game. When I was in college, I was so addicted to this game. I shared it with my roommmates, and they all got addicted to it too! This game is addicting and enticing. This game has become my favorite computer game ever and I will never find another game like it, I'm sure. If you have any other questions or if there's an area of your question I didn't cover, please let me know and I'd be glad to help. I hope that answers your question! Oh, by the way, you can play the game with or without cheats...it's basically all based on your preference. It's not a game you can win, so sometimes cheats make it easier for you to play. Sometimes it puts a nice spin on things. Sometimes it's better to play without them. It's all in what you choose. Once you buy the game (because I know you're going to after reading this!), let me know and I'll supply you with plenty of cheats to get started.
