I have a dog, half german shepard half labrador. He's a big ball of fun, however he chews things up like crazy. He literally eats my porch wood right off of the porch, its just driving me crazy. Does anyone have any tips on things to do to get my crazy dog under control? SilentRose

Dog n bone - dog chewing bone
i think some dogs like to chew things when they are still young, when they get older they usually didnt chew stuff like crazy anymore.but some dogs really like to chew stuff even they are old.maybe because they feel itchy on their teeth lol

I don't know how old your dog is but I have heard that labs chew until they are about 4. Has something to do with growing and cutting teeth. It also can be boredom for some dogs.

I think maybe your dog os bored, they have to have things to keep their mind busy like we do, especially if you only have one dog they get bored very easy.

If he is a pup then he is teething, if not a lot of it comes down to boredom. You may have fifty thousands toys for him but they do get bored. maybe deter him from going to that section of the porch, or try giving him a branch to chew on. My dogs love branches, they play with it and have making a game out of it.

I think stress can make a dog chew alot. Have you tried exercising him so when he comes back inside he sleeps instead of chews? If he has favorite things to chew and especially on your porch, get some of that bitter apple stuff and use it like paint! If he's a young dog and he's teething I can see why he's chewing. It usually stops when they get older.

Is he a puppy. If so hes just teething like a baby. If not then theres a vitamin lacking you should talk to a vet and see what you can change in his diet.
