Do Your Children Borrow Money? - borrowing money

Do you’re grown children (and I mean grown by children that have moved out of your house) ask you for money, whatever the amount may be ($20 to $200), do you ever ask for it back? Do you have to remind them to pay it back? Or do you just call it a loss and either expects it not returned or feel that it is a gift? How do you feel about this?

I am a grown child *lol* And i do sometimes ask my parents to borrow money and they never say no. However the first thing I always do when I get paid is to pay them back. my parents are well off - but they have raised me to always pay back what i owe - to all people and I think that it is a good thing =)

There's times that we have let it go and times when they have paid it back. Most of the time reminding is necessary. Just because they're grown doesn't make them not our kids.

I have 2 adult children. I make sure the we both understand that it is either a loan that they need to pay back by a specific date or a gift. So far I have not had a problem. Sometimes when I loan them money they may ask for an extension on paying it back but they have always paid it back.

I am writing this as a grown child. I rarely ask my mom for money, and if i do i get a lecture about how i need to be more responsible with my money and then when i get paid the next time i make sure my parents are the first people i pay back. I hate having to ask them for money because i do not want them to think that i am irresponsible with my money. The last time i ask my mom for money was almost a year ago when we were at a party and i thought it was an open bar but it wasn't so i ask her for 20 bucks so that i could get a few drinks becuase i didn't have cash on me, the next day i made sure i was at her house with the 20 bucks on hand.

I have borrowed money from my parents. They even once took out a loan in there name for me. I have always paid them back. Sometimes they tell me not to but I feel obligated to pay them back since they were kind enough to help me out when I needed it. I have also givin my mom money when she has needed it. But that I never take back nor do I ask for they have given me so much through out life that I feel it is my turn to help when ever I can.

My children are not grown yet. Mty daughter is almost 14 years. She very rarely borrows from me. It will only be if we are out shopping, and she unexpectedly sees something she wants, that she may borrow from me. She always repays me. My 13 year old step son, is quite different. I greatly fear that when he is grown up, he will want to borrow money. I will not be lending him any, as I know he wont repay it, and he should be learning to save for events. Loaning him moiney is not going to help him learn to save.

Well I still am a young parent, but my mother has lent money out to every one of us and some pay back and others do not. I think one should pay back money their parents gave them; it's not like you are bank mom. Some would be so bad they would ask me for money. I don't give it to them becuase I really don't have it and I need it more than they do. I mean the things they would buy with the money they borrowed was stupid. IE POT, or junk. Not stuff they really needed. Now I had two who really did need the money, but they Always paid back. Too funny how that works.

Yes, occassionally my grown kids borrow money from me, but I never ask for it back - I don't have to because they know if they don't pay it back they won't get another loan in the future... Oldest son borrowed money from me one time several years ago and when he came to the house to get the money he walked in with the title to his truck in his hand and gave it to me. I asked him what that was for and he said if something happened he didn't pay me back I could sell his truck... He did pay me back and I gladly gave him his title.

I'm a grown child and as I'm away for school now I have been asking money from my mom. She doesn't ask for it back but I usually pay her back any ways. (when I can make the money up again of course). She has always been there for me when I have money problems, so I'm doing the same as she goes through her ruff times as well.
