2 of my babies - when they were puppies
I think it depends on a few things like the owners ability to care for them on all levels, the size of the dogs, the size of the property/yard, the size of the house and so on...We have 2 dogs (and 4 cats LOL) that are med sized (maybe med-large size) and they are Chow mix and need to run etc but we have a decent sized house and tons of land for them to run on so that makes a huge difference..I would love to gt more dogs (and cats and tropical fish actually LOL) but my husband wont let me LOL Your puppies may be a handful now but as they grow and are trained they'll be excellent to have..Its just getting through the puppie stage LOL

the mutts now - all grown up LOL
they got into tons of trouble when they were puppies but now they are older and other than the occasional misbehaving, they are AMAZING dogs!

We've had 3 dogs but only 1 at a time. Jeff Foxworthy in his "You may be a redneck if..." comedy routine use to say that if your porch collapsed and killed 3 or more dogs... So, my wife and I agree with Jeff, 1 dog at a time. However, we have had up to 5 cats and currently have 4.

I have two large dogs that live here full time and that is really all I can have the responsibility for. I also have foster dogs from time to time but they are only here for 2 weeks each so we always know it is a temporary situation and 'make due'. If the dogs were small we might be avle o manage three, although sometimes personalities are more of a problem then the physical size of the animal.

I think that you have to take alot of things into consideration when you are asking how many dogs is to many. You have to consider how much time and energy you have to give your pet.If you have a big enough space for your animals to roam in. I currently have 3 medium size dogs. We have two german shepards and a brittany spaniel. My boyfriend has had the brittany spaniel for 12 years. I adopted my german shepard last year from the animal shlter, he is 5 yrs old. I adopted another german shepard, who is about 1 yr old, as a playmate for the first german shepard. We have over an acre of land for the dogs to roam on .

it really depends on the size of the lot and how much time the owners can take care of them . we only have 1 german shepherd dog,1 terrier and 2 japanese spitz. although, you can consider it many when it's more than one dog but if it is really your first priority and really matters to you, then many dogs means nothing to you. in your case, you can accommodate them all if you really spend most of your time with them. unless it's your hobby and your breeding it for business.

I have three relatively short haired dogs. This is more than enough, with all the competition for attention and hair all over. Any more and I could donate to wig companies and retire!

I have two miniature poodles. One is a tall black and white one. He is called Secret. I bought him in November 2004. The other is small and black. I bought her in March 2006. I decided to get my second dog as company for my first dog. They are the best of friends. They have different personalities. Magic is especially loving when I am sad or unwell. It is amazing how she knows this. They can be a bit of a handful when we are out if they get too excited. They love playing with other dogs if they are off the lead. But if they are on the lead they will bark at ever dog that walks past. My neighbour has three dogs. I think this is too many. I have two hands, one for each dog. I know other people in my neighbourhood with even more dogs than this. One man has 2 german shepherds and a collie. They look very challenging indeed. They do not like Secret at all. If we see them we cross the road or walk in the opposite direction. When I was a teenager I walked dogs for a family. They had 5 dogs and I used to walk two of them first and then the other three second. They could not mix the two sets together as they would fight. Two dogs that get on well together are perfect. Any more than this can be difficult.

I only have one dog, but I would like to have at least 3 more. My daughter has 5 dogs, and she has a large, fenced in yard for them to run around in. She also takes them for walks and takes turns taking them out for rides in the car when she's out doing errands. My husband doesn't want to be bothered with dogs, so that's why I don't have more. I think that how many dogs you have depends on how you will be able to take care of them. If you are able to provide what they need, like food, veterinary care, attention, excersise, love, then you should have as many dogs as you want, as long as you are taking care of them.

I have 4 dogs a 13 yr old yellow lab, a 9yr old german shepard, a 6 yr old shepard mix and a 3 year old jack russell. The jack russell is worth 5 dogs. I feel that right now I have reached my limit because I have a really small house. My sister on the other hand works at the Humane Society and she has 9 dogs. She admits that she has to many but she loves them all and they are all current on their shots. She just can't help herself.
