Do dogs and mice get along?

I don't know, but I had a field mouse running around my house last night. I eventually took him and let him outside to be free agian, but for near 6 hours my dog was sitting there letting the mouse run wild. Is my dog just lazy or do they just not care about mice? Has anyone else seem something that resembles this?
