Please, please STOP posting discussions about leaving myLot !!!!!!!

..it's driving me nuts!! Every other "discussion" seems to be someone announcing they're leaving myLot. Why? I don't mean why are they leaving - I mean why do they feel the need to announce it in that way? If you're leaving then leave - the community won't grind to a halt, the other 80,000 members will recover and struggle on somehow! I'm sorry but I just think the self-importance of some people is staggering - it's driving me crazy! I understand people wanting to let their friends know they're leaving but why not PM them? I have a friend that did that and I think it's a nice gesture and a reasonable, considerate way of dealing with the situation. It also leaves the door open for her to return to myLot because she didn't do the whole dramatic "I'm leaving..." post. That's even more irritating - people make their "dramatic" announcement, get their 100 responses asking them to stay and then guess what .... THEY'RE STILL HERE!!! Although I have to say why leave anyway? Wouldn't you just stop posting? Does leaving have to be an actual event? Is there an official ceremony for crying out loud??? Sorry - I know this is a rant but I've just gone through 4 screens on myLot and I swear there was at least a dozen discussions along these lines. Grrrrrr!!!

I think it's actually quite nice for them to say goodbye, because then people won't woner where that person has gone.

Well I can see your point but really how many people WILL wonder? As I said in my opening post it's fine to PM your friends list and tell them - I think that is a nice thing to do actually - but announce it to 80,000 people?? I just don't see the need I'm afraid.

I agree with you, the only members that mater are those who stay.

Exactly. That's what I mean by self-importance. I mean what do they think will happen when they leave? Do they REALLY think most people would even notice they're gone? It's just nonsense.

My guess is that they want to get responses and attention, as you say. OR... they are hoping that Mylot will notice these discussions and all the responses to them, and will make the changes that the users want. If there's something in common that's making lots of people want to leave, then Mylot would do well to listen. I usually don't read those discussions (since I'm not planning on leaving).

I agree if lots of people were leaving for the same reason then myLot should listen but it doesn't seem to be the case. If someone has a real problem with some aspect of this forum then fair enough - let them get it off their chest before they go. That usually isn't the reason given though - or at least not in the ones I've read.

Yeah, good point. Honestly, why does anyone care? If you leave, fine, bye! Is anyone at Mylot really that close to beg you to stay? Its just a place for random people to leave messages like "we'll miss you, bye" kinda messages.

Exactly. And if someone had become close friends with others on here you would think they would keep in touch in other ways anyway. It's all just drama.

It is like the pure long goodbye with some of them. To be honest if someone is moaning about myLot or claiming that they are leaving then I don't even bother acknowleding the post. Another thing that does my head in is people who go "Apologies to my frineds I wasn't online for 2 days" Hey well noone missed you!!!!

lol - that's why I tagged it with "leaving myLot" - I thought that would sniff them all out!! The example you give "apologies to my friends.." is another one that gets me - I mean do they REALLY think people are sitting there thinking "oh I wonder where he/she is? They haven't posted for 24 hours. I hope they're ok....."??? Hilarious!! I don't usually respond to the leaving ones anyway - I've responded to a couple if they've been friends or if they've had something relevant to say at the same time but normally I just ignore them. To me they're not discussions - they're not asking a question, they're making a statement.

Let the guys/gals who put theit post regarding leaving mylot go on doing it. How does it matter to like-minded people like you and me. After all ,it is a forum where they are free to air their feelings. And if they are doing it to garner some monetary benifits, then I guess it is a very short sighted and stupid way of going about it and it wont take them to far. Dont loose your cool over trifles. And this is one trivial issue which wont lead to perfection in any aspect.People like me and you will start identifieng their games and the rest will follow. Dont loose sleep over it. Keep posting...

Of course you're right. I'd seen a dozen too many of these posts yesterday and was just in that kind of mood I guess. Thanks for your response.

i think this is one of getting attention. By posting these types of dicussion they think that they can get a lot of reponses to they discussion from people . Just asking them to stay on .

Yes - they almost always get a lot of responses and most people on here are nice people who will naturally respond to these types of discussions by asking the person to stay.

i'm completely agree with you. i think the members who keen to stay will not be affected by those who want to leave, because mylot.com is not just earn money by posting or by a lot of responses but it is about buil our own community to share one another. if they want to leave, so let it be. we will keep go on. goodluck www.dollarsagloco.blogspot.com
