Sitting in the litter box

We have a covered litter box. I removed the lid to clean and refill the litter. Our female cat came to use the box before I put the lid back on - no biggie. She gets out and now the male is just sitting in it like it is a big sand box. I am telling him to get out and he just looks at me like there is nothing wrong. Cats are so goofy!

My kitty became very hygeine conscious after sleeping in his litter box and realzing to himself saying or thinking, hey wait a minute, this is where I crap and piss isn't it, after realizing this and thinking for a long time, he became hygeine conscious and now only washes his paws in the sink with liquid dial soap or with coast bar soap, so he is now in effect a hyper self conscious cat who does'nt want anyone to think he sleeps in a pile of his own dung and ranking piss

I have known cats to go to sleep in the litter box. When it is clean of course.
One of my cats loves the litter box, the other won't go near it.

LOL that sounds like my boyfriends cat. For the longest time he would change the litter and the goofy cat would lay ontop the new litter just like you say its a sandbox or something. Cats can be goofy at times thats for sure.

AA nice one ..just show him that he has other comfortable spots ... doesn't he have a pillow just for him ,..in his basket or something ...my cta is a sucker for my bed cover ...wich is so soft ...she hardly sleeps in her basket anymore :)) lol
