German shepherds

My german shepherd thinks my cat is his own personal fluffy toy. My shepherd picks up the cat gently and brings him to me like he's so proud of what he's found. The cat isn't very impressed that the dog can pick him up - but he knows not to struggle and he's never been hurt. Even though the dog is very gentle with the cat, it's not true the other way around. The cat will sit on one of the stairs about half way up and hide in between the banisters. When the dog walks past, the cat will dive over the edge and land on the dog's back.
