Take your shoes off?

Do you take your shoes off when you first walk in your house? What about other people that come over, do they take their shoes off ? For me it depends, if it's raining outside then I definetly take my shoes off so the floors don't get wet or muddy. We have laminate flooring in the living room so it's pretty easy to clean up if anything does get tracked in.

I really hate wearing shoes in general, especially in the summer, so I almost always take my shoes off as soon as I am in the door. I'm less concerned about tracking stuff on the floors, and more concerned about my toes being able to move around freely! :)

Mostly it depends on what I am gonna be doing throughout the day. If I am gonna be in and out constantly than I will keep them on. If I am just going out to check the mail or it has been raining than I will take my shoes off and relax the rest of the day. Can hardly stand shoes as it is, no matter what time of year it is, they always make my feet feel overly hot.

i take mine off because my slippers are waiting for me. i put them on in the morning and take them off at the door when i leave for work...my feet are always cold, so during the winter, i always wear something on my feet around the house.

most of the time i take my shoes off. i do it for a comfort reason, nothing else. on the days that it has snowed or rained, i definitly take my shoes off. i dont want that mess getting all over my area rug or on the tile. the tile is easy to clean up, but it gets really slippery and dangerous and i dont want any falls happening. it makes me crazy when guests come over on rainy or snowy days and dont even think twice about just walking in and wiping thier feet on the area rug! to make matters worse, during the winter months, my son wasnt walking yet, so he would crawl on the wet carpet if we werent watching him closly.

I always take off my shoes when i come into my own home i have a pair of sandals or slippers by the door to slip on..I know growing up with my mom we didn't wear our shoes in the house..she would always say don't track dirt through the house..heck the dog at moms stops on the mat and waits for her paws to get wiped lol its likes she knows its sooo funny..its a sign of respect i think to at least ask or at least attempt to take them off and if the homeowner says don't bother you can leave them on Cheryl

I personally always take off my shoes. When someone comes to visit though I let them jsut walk their shoes in because it's not often we have people up so I am sure if won't ruin the carpet too much.

Most often I do take my shoes off in the house. My guests take their shoes off as well. I hate cleaning my floors constantly and we have sand outside so people tend to drag that in on their shoes. I don't see the point of wearing shoes in the house. I was brought up in an asian household so it is their culture to not wear shoes in the house, so maybe that is w hy it doesn't make sense to me hahaha! But I do have house slippers that my husband and I wear. My daughter just wears her socks. I have heel spurs and I can't walk on bare feet for too long or else I will pay dearly for it.

Although it is not the usual custom where I live to take shoes off before going into one's home we have always done this. It has raised eyebrows with some of our guests, but we don't ask them to do it. If we go to someone else's home, we watch to see what they do and then follow their example, unless it is raining, and then we take our shoes off anyway. Well, I don't much like wearing shoes unless the weather is bad, and now that we are retired I mostly wear sandals (and we mostly live where the weather is good!) My favorite sandals are the topless Down-Unders that stick to the bottom of your feet while you are wearing them and it is almost like going barefoot. They are easy to wash--just rinse them off under a faucet and let them dry before wearing them again. So I would be OK with those if I had an indoor pair to wear while the outdoor pair was drying. I keep these sandals in my suitcase to use in hotel rooms when we travel. I like that they take up little space and can be washed before repacking.

I don't tend to take them off right away, but pretty close. Usually when I get home I say hello to everyone and then head to the bedroom to change. I try to keep my shoes really organized, I have shoe boxes for all of them with most of them labelled :) So I go to my closet and put my shoes away (most of the time....sometimes I am lazy and just kick them off by the closet door to put away later). I don't usually walk around the house with my shoes on, I tend to prefer to be barefoot, or in the winter with socks on.

I always take my shoes off when I come home. Its my habitude. At VN, the road is not clean so my shoes for sure are very durty. Take it on floor can give me hard time to clean the traces ^^

No I dont but I have alot of throw rugs around.LOL If we didnt wear shoes in our homes our rugs would last longer and stay much cleaner. Dont you think? I usually wear slippers in the house not shoes. And I dont have the nerve to tell people oh please take your shoes off. LOL

Hi Daycarepal. I must have missed this discussion 4 months ago! I take my shoes off when I go into my home and anyone elses. I don't like to track anything into my home so I feel it is respectful of me not to track things into others homes. I also ask people to remove their shoes when coming into my house. I have a new home that we just built 2 yrs ago. It has a hard wood floor in the kitchen/dining room and carpeting in the other rooms. Except the bathrooms are tile. There is a bathroom off the mud room entrance if someone is just coming in to use the bathroom so they don't have to remove their shoes.
