Birthday on a Holy Thursday

So it'll be my birthday in a few days. I've been looking forward to it especially since I'll be hitting an important "stage" in my life. Unfortunately, my birthday falls on Holy Thursday and my friends have kept on teasing me that they should greet me "Happy Sad Birthday" on my special day. Now I'm at a loss on how to celebrate my birthday. Any thoughts? I was thinking of just attending mass and maybe just spend the day at home =/
