I have been looking for a home job, as I cannot stand or walk. Nor do I have a car. All jobs require computer skills. I was rasied in an era of pens and paper. I feel so old and outdated. Does the world evolve only around computers?

It certainly does seem that the earth revolves around computers. But you are such an artist with pen, paper and scissors. Why don't you try your hand at an illustrated childrens book?

Thank you dear. Did you ever hear of starving artists? Or being in the right place at the right time? I have tried just about everything.

I am ready to buy some self-help books for dummies to help me to hone a skill so that I can be able to state that I do know the programs that most jobs are requiring that one be knowledgable in.

Not sure why you feel that way when you do so well from what we see. Also back when computer came to be and I was still working. They said it was a new paperless system, well, I saw even more paper being generated. Your ink is now in your printer and the paper is what is used by the same printer. Just a differnt method for jotting things down. Some change slowly other move along with it. Doesn't matter since we end up in the same spot anyway most times. Good luck to you in your endeavors.

You show computer skills here on myLot and your English is excellent so you do have skills. I too was raised in the pen and paper era but to get on in this world one has to move with the times.

STOP feeling old and outdated. You have a marvelous talent to be proud of. Concentrate on doing that well, expanding it if you can and living however you want. There a many people who survive quite well without ever working on a computer. Be determined from within to live your dreams and not let feeling outdated stop you.

I have now been out of the work force for 15 years .. the job I was doing at the time I was forced out of work by my disabilities was very well paid and I was moving up the management ladder .. Now .. none of the qualifications I fought so hard to earn are in date .. so I have no qualifications to help me get a job (not that I can work mind you, but if I was looking for work) .. I'd be lucky to get the lowest of the low jobs .. after 15 years of being away from work everything has completely changed .. I am definitely out of date .. I am out of all the loops, fashion, entertainment, menfolk, money ... all I'm qualified for is being a 'no hoper' hhahahah ..

Luckily i grew up in the computer era and we had computers all throughout school. I also took some basic computer extra classes in high school. I know how you feel though as i still only have average computer skills but these days there are lots of classes you can take to help you gain those extra skills needed. Good luck with it all hun xxx
