I'm So Happy Now...

I was a police officer for 6 years before we moved to no-where-ville, TN. Most of the police jobs I've applied for here are rural departments, that's all that's really close by. A few where I've actually met with the Chiefs, they've given me such a rotten attitude and even worse if you can believe that. I hate to say it, because I'm soooo not that type of person, but I really believe it's because I don't have a pen-is...yes, I'm a girl :) Their mentality is I should be home barefoot and pregnant. It's just so amazing to me to experience this much bias! I've experienced it before to a certain extent, but never to this degree and some were very blatant & obvious about it!! And, it's not worth it to file a complaint or anything locally or with the Feds. He said she said battles don't get very far.... Anyway, so I'd applied at this small place about an hour away from me, I looked online and it said they'd scheduled interviews. Well, I hadn't been called, so again I was really bummed out. Then the phone rang, they must've just posted it online about scheduling the interviews, and she asked if I wanted to interview. I told her absolutely lol. It's just an interview, and it's pretty sad that I have to get all excited over that small hurdle, but I am. Anyway, it's next week, wish me luck-I'm definitely gonna need it!!!

I wish you all the luck in the world. I hope you get the job. That would be wonderful. I can empathize with being "discriminated" against because of gender. It is so hard to break those stereotypes in some rural areas. You are going to do great. Give em' heck.

Thank you so much!! It's very difficult to break! And honestly, I don't want to be the one that does it lol :) Not in the mood to deal with backlash at the moment, few years ago-I would've been at the front of the line to do so. I figure eventually all those old coots will die off, someday...

It's tough. I have experienced it with my gender and my religion. It seems never to go away, especially in small rural towns.

Well my dear, I just came across this, and it is a month old. So tell me, did you get the job? I don't get surprised at all, how people think. I have been around for some time, and it appauls me, but, never changes in small towns especially.

You're right, doesn't change. Small towns will change when people move here and start putting their foots down about nepotism and cronyism lol....such is life I suppose. Thanks!!

Oh I am so happy for you. I read your message and got chill bumps lol. Good Luck. I know you will do well. What is the job doing? Is it something you like to do? It is go wonderful. The man upstairs is so good isn't he. I hope you don't mine I have some good news to share as well. You know I was looking for something to do from home and I had started with Cha-Cha and well you know how Cha-Cha goes you are never really gonna make a full time income which is my first goal.(Make a full time income from home) Well I found this company. I really liked what they had to say so because it was free trial I signed up and guess what in a weeks time I have gotten so many responses. As a matter of fact I was just preparing a welcome kit to send out when I saw your message. The thing I really like is that the sponsors not only say they are there to help you they really are. My sponsor Kristy is so nice I stayed on the phone with her for 2 hours yesterday. They are really down to earth people just like us. They showed me a lot and the continue to send me more information that is really helping me you have so much to choose from. You just choose what really works best for you. I was scared at first because I don't know a lot of people and I live in a small town but you don't have to know anyone everyone I have signed up has been online or someone that saw my site. Its really cool. I am gonna keep my fingers crossed for you tomorrow I know everything will work out for you. Also take a look at my site and tell me what you think. I am loving this so much. I am actually smiling now. lol. Keep your head up, Gail http://www.freedom.ws/decemberbreeze

Thank you! I sent you an email as well! Is your thing still working out? Sounds great if it is! Just be careful with some of those online places, and be leery of sending any money to them! Check them out good, and check them out on this site too, kind of a "rogue" online better business bureau if you will lol! http://www.ripoffreport.com/default.asp Hope it's going good still! I'll talk to you later!

I know how you feel so i shall wish you the best of luck. I live in a small town and finding work is a bummer. With you they dont say specifically why they wont but here they have no tact at all. Im either too fat, too criple, they need a man or too qualified(A little tactful too mention the other reasons).im trying for my own business but being in a small town, makes it more difficult.

Well thank you!! Yes, small towns are nice, but they have their draw backs as well, that's for sure. I really would love to start a pet store, mainly fish around here. There's NO pet stores around, have to drive at least 45 minutes to a chain store. But, I don't think they'd care around here too much for what I want to do, so I'm kinda at a ehhh stage with that idea. I can't believe they actually tell you those things!! You must be even more rural then I am lol!! Wow, makes you want to walk in with your cell phone recording the conversation(which may be legal in some states!!), in your hand-plain view, and run to the nearest FED office or at least a good out of town lawyer! Really! But then, if your town's like ours, they have no money either for a lawsuit lol. Our poor deputies didn't get paid last June, or paid a month late anyway....Well good luck to you as well!

I'm sorry for your story. It have seen so many tv shows where women that work as police officers are discriminated by the male colleagues. They think a woman is not capable of doing such a job. Well, that's the shows I see on the 504 channel, but not on Law on order lol I guess the reality is what you are saying... This discussion is 3 months old so I don't know what happened. I can't wish you luck is it is too late but I wish you good luck with your other projects you might have... Did you get that job or maybe you applied for other ones? I hope things worked for the best for you. Have a nice day signal.

I'm sorry to hear that! It's always infuriating to me when an employer thinks women are not able to do the same job as men. That being said my husband is a military cop, and there are lots of women and they are treated equally, but that's military life. I know it isnt like that in "the real world"! I am glad you have an interview though, and hope you get it!

Yes, military life is so much different then civilian life. I was in the Army Guard too, and I noticed a big difference. Thanks for your well wishes!!
