I prefer to volunteer with people mostly, although I have also done some volunteer work with animals. I began volunteering as teen, tutoring younger students. After graduation, I volunteered at a senior citizen center, and then spent many years volunteering at our preschool. I have done fundraising work for Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots, Hospice of Michigan, and more. One of the biggest volunteering efforts I have worked on recently is my fundraising efforts for Hospice of Michigan. Several of us got together and recorded several CDs that are available by donation to benefit Hospice of Michigan. We plan to record another one this summer.

I'm a volunteer youth leader at my church. I help plan events, activities, and I also mentor the youth. I love working with teenagers. There's so much that I feel I can do for them and learn FROM them. The things they go through in the world today is worse than when I was their age. I like to listen to some of their every day struggles and lend any advice that they may want. If they aren't looking for advice, I just listen and I'm there when they need a shoulder.

There is always a need out there to be met. I think volunteering in whichever role gives us the most reward and satisfaction. I am glad I have more time to do this now as I feel I am meeting a need I have in serving others. I crochet blankets, hats and clothing for neonatal babies at a local hospital, and also crochet afghans for Disaster Relief. I feel it gives both a homemade "love touch that someone cares that they have needs!! I am also a caregiver 24/7 so I can relate to how much just the smallest way someone shows they care and offer to help can mean so much!

I volunteered with Animal Liberation for about 2 years. I found this very rewarding as I helped to raise a lot of money to go towards raising awareness of the plight of farmed animals. There were some things I didn't like about it, like doing car washes all day non stop and things like that but at the end of the day I loved what I did. I would like to volunteer some more as I feel it is a very rewarding activity.

i had an experience in voluteering when i was in college, I'm part of an environmental society who help spread the word of enviromentalism, there was a time that we clean a river full of human garbage, and teach the community there of proper waste disposal and the effects of poor hygine in their community, i was a hard task cleaning a river with a lot rocks and garbage stuck within them, but in the end of the day we saw the results and it was fulfilling.
