Do you think they are a good idea or a bad idea?

I think they are a very good idea, because if children could come to school in their own clothes, there would be so much competition between children as to who wears the latest fashion gear, could you imagine all the poor families unable to provide their children with the latest reeboks or puma? It would cause more bullying, as if bullying isn't bad enough. It also makes the children behave more, especially out of school because if they wear a uniform they are easily identifiable if they misbehave. Uniform needs to stay most definitely.

Truthfully, if I were still in school, I would hate them, but I think they are a good thing. People won't judge other's based on the way they're dressed; there will be less problems with students violating dress code; and less likely to get distracted by someone's outrages dress style, because everyone will look the same. I am all for individuality, but school is for learning and I think uniforms are a way to assist in keeping school seperate from social time.

Personally I think it is a great idea as I do not have the trouble of my kids always moaning or not deciding on what to wear to school everyday. It also stops alot of competition with fashion and as everyone wears the same children who's families may be poor can dress their children sufficiently, as we know how unkind some children can be. It also saves me so much money as I do not have to buy so many clothes and what they do have lasts so much longer. I will always be in favour of school uniform.

I agree with you on all points. Also, with the way that some of the kids dress (or not dress in some cases - lol) school uniforms help pervent distractions and wandering eyes.

I completely love the idea of school uniforms, but I also acknowledge that uniforms only work, if the school really enforces it at all times, and if the parents are willing to set rules for the children. I really wish that my son could attend a shool with uniforms, as I think it creates a much better learning environment, where there are less brand name competition. I love how this enables everyone to be more on the same page, although I realize that there will always be hirarchys in schools. I also think that it would help our clothe budget alot, if the kids would wear school uniforms. Unfortunately I have seen, and heard about a lot of cases here in South Florida, where the parents and the schools fail to enforce the school uniform dress code, and it seems that if they just fail to do this once, then they have broken the benefits of having school uniforms.

In my opinion, school uniforms are a 'great idea.' They put all teens at common ground. School should be about education. Clothes shouldn’t be an issue at school. Children can be cruel to one another and with peer pressure and stereotypes already in school, not dressing in the latest cool fads can make you more of an outcast amongst your peers.

I hated school uniforms. The only purpose they seem to serve is to kill a persons originality.

Good idea because it promotes equality, discipline and make them look like a group for a purpose. I think kids also look cute in it.

Well, school uniforms have their good points and bad points. Well I realized this when I entered college last year. Wahehehe.. It's good to have uniforms because you don't have to end up worrying of what to wear the next day. Uniforms set equality among the students in class (I guess to avoid show-offs and sometimes being vulgar). They also identify from which school you are (but it can be a bad point too). The bad or not-so-good point is that, the student's aren't free to express themselves in clothing, and uniforms can also be something that affect social relationships-school rivalry, that is. Personally, I used to hate wearing uniforms when I was in highschool because I feel uncomfortable with it and I'm sometimes mistaken for someone else. But now that I'm in college, and we don't have uniforms, I missed my uniform because I'm having trouble with what to wear everyday!! Aaaarrrrghhh... But since I'm only from a middle-class family and with my EXPENSIVE tuition, I don't want to worry about what to wear everyday as long as I'm learning in school. Ahihihi..^_^

though i personally dont like wearing school dresses. but still they r not tht bad, they signifies many things, they show tht all students r alike, creating feeling of oneness. they tell u tht u r a part of somthing. though they dont help us academically but play a roll in our (student's) social life. but still school uniform sould atleast b cool.

I think that they are very effective I almost went to a school that had them, and I still want to go. Then you don't have all these freaks wearing make up and weird clothes, plus people with chains and all this other crap, so I agree!

With the way the world is going I would have to say just because of that uniforms would be a good idea because there wouldnt be as much of people beating on other kids or being made fun of starting gang wars or riots in school, it could possibly make schools safer and kids wouldnt feel scared to go to school and get an education. My Personal opinion would be against school uniforms. It takes away our unique selfs, our freedom to express ourselves in the way we want to express it. We are each different why should we have to dress the same as everyone else what fun would that be and that would take away our freedom to express, just like it would take away freedom of speech

Well my teachers said we wore uniform to avoid social class in school like the richer kids will wear prettier outfit and accessories. The idea was we are all the same. But then we fight with another school because we don't have the same uniform. Its a bad idea. Why dont they just talk to their students..and give them understanding.

It is a good idea for me. In high school, since i came from a Private exclusive school, we used to wear strict regulated uniforms. I was used to it because I wore uniforms ever since middle school, even earlier than that. Now that im in College, believe it or not I still wear unifroms since im enrolled in a PRIVATE catholic University. I was really pissed because of the uniform, but the brigther side is, I can collect many clothes in my closet. We get to wear new clothes every time there is a special occasion. we dont get to dress up every day because of school, we have a uniform.

I used to absolutely hate wearing school uniforms. They are a bad idea because what a person wears has absolutely no bearing in his/her academic performance at school. A school is a place to learn knowledge and socialize with people. Not wearing uniform does not interfere with them at all.
