The carny says hey kid ill bet you 50 bucks i can write your exact weight on the back of this sheet of paper. the kid looks around and he doesnt see a scale so sure enough he says ok your on... At the end of the day the carny walks away with the kids money how is this possible?

Carny didn't bet for weighing him exactly but to write his weight exactly. so even if carny asks the boy and write the exact weight, carny has won the bet.

i meant to say that, Carny did not bet to "do" the weight of the boy. She only did bet to "write" the weight of the boy. so she can ask from the boy himself, how he weighed or she can ask any other body about the weight of the boy and then she will write it on the paper.

To anyone who has ever evaluated a contract, this is a sure thing. The carny did not say he would write the exact weight, he said, " I can write your exact weight.". Well, of course he can. So, can you or I. Whether or not any of us actually do write the exact weight is not important the way this is worded. Now, that is probably not what he meant, but that's the exact meaning of what was said. Here's something more likely. The carny did not say he would write the exact weight the first try. The carny could begin writing 1 lbs, 2 lbs, 3 lbs,..... 1000 lbs. Somewhere along the way he has written the exact weight on the piece of paper.

On the back of the paper the carny wrote,"your exact weight". That took awhile, but I was pretty sure it depended on paying attention to precisely what was said. This is a good example of why lawyers trained in the proper use of language are sometimes worth the money.
