Unresolved Discussions

Some weeks ago I awarded best responses for all of the discussions I started, i.e. I had no unresolved discussions. Today I come back here and find that there are now 5 unresolved discussions. Okay, so that might appear to be "no big deal" but the fact is that I have already awarded a best response to someone and it no longer appears. This means that I have to go through all the responses and find out who got it the first time around, so I don't give it to another person this time. Going back would not be a major problem in normal circumstances, but one of the discussions in question has over 800 responses and another has over 400. That will take some time to read through all of those responses. So, do I just leave those discussions "unresolved", award the best response to someone or read through till I find who I gave it to the first time around? Has this happened to anyone else here? Also, does anyone know what is going here at myLot that suddenly a decision I made some months ago now appears to never have been made? Please help me with this one.

That's never happened to me. If you think you can remember who, I would try and give it to the same person, if not give it to whomever you decide at the time of re-reading. However that being said, if for some reason it removes the best response AGAIN i'd just chalk it up to a glitch in the matrix and leave it unresolved.

PS- my only guess as to why, would be maybe that person you picked got removed from mylot for some reason

Good point... you could be right on about them being removed, along with their responses and replies.

It could be that in a couple of instances the response I chose was by someone who is no longer here but unfortunately the one I did find, the person is still an active member. Must be something in the system I suspect but thank you for giving a helpful response. :)

Hi ossie, am not around much lately as too much time on the computor and now I have arm and shoulder problem, not sure if it is related to using the computor or there is some other underlying factor, but would just like to say that you do extremely well on myLot and whatever choice you make will be a good one!

Thanks caramello, and I am not here all that much either due to other things going on in my life. Sorry to hear about your arm and shoulder problem, but make sure it is checked out thoroughly by your doctor. I think the end result will be that if I cannot find the person I originally awarded the best response to, I will choose another. :)

Wow, now that is a dilemma! So Sorry, Ossie : ( I'm happy to say that I haven't had such an issue. I'm not sure if I'd recognize the response that I first awarded BR or not. You could leave them unresolved or just choose a new response as best, as you said. At least you've started this discussion so people will understand what kind of predicament you were in. (if they notice at all) Have you already contacted myLot about the matter? I know they aren't much help but I was just wondering. Is there some chance that you had duplicates? I accidentally did that once and I've seen it many times, with other users, where the exact same discussion was started twice.

Now, I want to go and re-check on my resolved discussions! Maybe, like the first poster said, the original best responder may have been removed from myLot... along with their discussions and replies???

One thing I generally do MySpot is make a comment to the person I give a best response to, and that will make it easier I am hoping but a couple of these discussions are very old and I cannot remember if I did that back in the early days. The other thing I do when I receive a best response is to make a "thank you" comment. I know not everyone does that though. Actually one of my friends, everlasting, has just posted a response here and she noted that a couple of best responses she had are not showing up anymore, so some people will notice. Unfortunately (in this case), I have never made a double posting of a new discussion, although when we had all that trouble last year I did often do so when responding or commenting. I am hoping that myLot will come up with a reasonable explaination as to how and why this happened - if they know that is. Okay, so some people will not worry but I do like to acknowledge those who take the time to respond to my discussions and someone generally deserves a best response for their efforts. I notice that you have changed your avatar too MySpot. :)

Ossie, I don't know why some of them have changed back to unresolved. I have had several that this happened to also and I have noticed others talking about it too. I don't know what happened unless the person rewarded the best response got terminated from the site. I just picked another as best response. I didn't remember who I had given best response to. It would be nice if myLot would explain to us what caused these discussions to change to "unresolved."

Thanks for "best response," Ossie. Maybe this one will stay resolved. LOL. It is quite a surprise when a resolved discussion turns up unresolved. I am thinking that in some cases the person with "best response" for whatever reason never got the money for it so a new "best response" has to be chosen. It is good to see you here again sometimes, Ossie.

I agree with you that it would be nice if myLot explained to us what has happened to change the situation. Another friend, everlasting, said the same thing but also that some best responses she had received have disappeared. It is most annoying but I will check them all anyway and now have it down to 3 old unresolved discussions. Thanks for responding caribe.

Wow - I never had a discussion with so many responses! I have not had that particular thing happen, but I did have a strange thing happen a while back on myLot. I answered this stupid discussion asking "What was the last thing you ate?" and then somehow myLot converted it into a discussion I had started! It was a stupid discussion that I shouldn't even have answered, and suddenly the system thought it was mine. I couldn't decide what to do about it, but I ultimately picked a best response just to get it off of my unresolved list! I'm not sure how to advise you on this one. I guess just scan them to see if you can recall what you had first picked as best response?? Hey, maybe you'll get myLot credit for resolving them again?

Sometimes this sort of thing happens it seems tentwo67 but how you came to have a discussion under you, when you have only responded to it is amazing. :) Oh well, I do hope that it earned you some money for it. I don't think that we get money for resolving discussions but could be wrong of course. I just thought that we got a little extra for receiving best response to a discussion.

Looks like there are advantages in being new and not starting too many discussions here .... I have only started 4 of them so far and all only in the past few days so I only have unresolved discussions at the present time. i do like your idea of making a comment to let the person know who got best response and think I will adopt that policy too. Agree that it would be awful if you gave it to one person last time and then a new person this time. It would not really be fair I shouldn't think. It would be hard for you so you either have the choice of spending lots of time going back checking to see who you gave it to last time and give it to them; going back and choosing whichever one you think is the best response and just leaving them as being unresolved. The last one seems a bit messy though but it also makes me realise that I should make a comment to those people who give me a best response ... that way if they get unresolved then the person can read through and see my comment and give it to me again. Ossie wish I could help you a bit more ... but see that you are probably going to have to make a hard call on this one. Of course if I have responded to any of them ... there is your answer .... give me the best response.

It does seem that if I cannot find who I gave the best response to first time around oldboy, I will be making a new choice. Who knows who might get it but as these are all old discussions I am talking about, sadly it probably won't be you this time, as you are new and wouldn't have responded to these. :)

what decision did you make some months ago. I say you give all the best responses to me and that should resolve your quandry. okay...how was your easter?

No idea who I chose back then because a couple of them go back 5 months. Not happy at all in fact mytwo_daughters. Better check, because you do give good responses so maybe one of them was given to you. :) Our Easter was fine - not too hectic at all and we were together as a family again this year, since our son is temporarily back in Australia. Hope that your Easter went well and that your lovely little daughters are doing find too. :)

Actually Ossie I just noticed that one discussion you had a best response for is now showing up as not having any at all. Have you heard from myLot why this is happening and what they are doing to fix the problem? If you have to mark a best response more than once ... it seems to me that there is no point in awarding it in the first place.

Well, oldboy if it didn't affect the earnings of the person who gets the best response, then I would not worry. I do not know which one you are talking about me being awarded best response and it going, but thank you for letting me know anyway.

Hi Ossie! Since the changes to myLot I seem to have no "unresolved discussions" option! I only just noticed this as a result of your post. Wow, 400 and 800 responses to wade through to pick the one you originally chose. There's got to be a better way to do it I think! How about posting a discussion or two to find out who the best respondant was? Just an idea! Sorry, can't think of any other ideas other than contacting myLot. LOL

Yes this also happened to me as well and I do not understand that at all so I had to do it all over again, I do not understand why this occured. Oh dear that is a lot of responses to go through isn't it I do not know why this is happening. But I think your best bet would be to give it to someone else so that you can clear them from your unresolved discussions. It is not fair but how else are you going to solve this problem.

Yes, that is the problem in that I have a lot of responses to re-read but am slowly going through them because I am hoping that I made a note of who I had given the best response to. That I will be so lucky before I have read through all 800+ of them. :) Thanks for your input Kathy, and I do appreciate your comments.

I haven't had that problem. I wouldn't go back through 100's of responses trying to figure out what I did before. Reading through the discussions and trying to figure out who you liked best before is an exercise in futility, I think. Maybe you could contact the management and explain the situation. Is it really that important to spend hours re-doing something you did months ago on this site?

Yes! It happened to me too! Luckily, I only had one previously resolved discussion to reappear. Isn't it strange? I wonder why/how this would happen. I have to go back through and try to remember who I gave the best response to as well. It is a lot of trouble and really irks me!

This happened once before actually or rather I found that a couple of discussions I thought I had given a best response to suddenly appeared in the unresolved discussions. Just thought I must have been having a bad hair day, but I know that I did resolve all of them this time. One thing I generally do is make a comment saying that the person has made the best response and that does make it a little easier. But it shouldn't happen all the same and I agree with you that it really irks me too crazynurse.

It is not good when it happens to anyone, regardless of how many responses they receive to their discussions. After the first few I know that I started to make a comment to the person who I gave it to, which made it easier for a couple of the discussions. But the others I just had to award it to the one I thought was best. Even then I awarded one best response 3 days ago and when I checked today, found it "unresolved" again.

Hello ossie16d, i am sorry i am not able to answer your question because i am a very new man here, just 3 days ago. But from what read from myLot post guidelines, they never mention have to resolve the discussion. But for you easier manage, i suggest you to close the discussion and start another interesting topic since that one is so old already.

The problem is that you cannot close a discussion here, and anyone can respond even after a best response has been awarded. I have found a couple of those I gave best responses to by going through each one. After the first couple of discussions, I started to make a comment to the person I had given best response to, so those I could fix easily enough. the others I just chose the one I thought had made the best response. It is not right of course, but there was no alternative.

Maybe for some reason myLot deleted the responses that you gave the Best Response too? I am not really sure on this one, but for you to have given all of your discussions a Best Response is doing better than me. I need to go and do that for a lot of Discussions I have started still. Good Luck on solving this Dilema...

This has happened to me as well as some of my previously resolved discussions have reappeared and are unresolved now. I have no idea who I gave the best response to before and wonder if they got credit for it the first time. After it has reappeared there are new responses as well so it makes it more difficult. I remember people stating in previous topics and comments that they wish that they could change their mind and give the best response to someone else and wonder if this has anything to do with it or if it is a system gliche.

Seems like this is happening to a number of us, which must mean some sort of glitch. What is of concern as I read through these responses, is will it happen to us all over again. As I said in an earlier comment, I will be making a note of who I have given best response to, and I also make a "thank you" comment when I receive a best response.

Yes it was not a really hard discussion to respond to and was one that I started when I had not been here for all that long Shaun. Hasn't happened since that time either, but still those couple were good to get a lot of responses to.

i have not experienced this. First of all let me tell u that u r so lucky to get 800 and 400 responses for some discussions. I can never dream of those feat. but i think when u have chosen ur best responses for all, then it should not happen.

You are not the only one who thinks it was great to get so many responses to a couple of my discussions but there are some that have only received a couple of responses as well. I agree with you in that once we have chosen a best response, it should still be there and not disappear off the screen. Thanks for your input into this discussion. :)

I've had this problem before Mylot upgraded when their system suddenly went screwy on me, and I know some other members were saying that they couldn't rate people too, so maybe it was from then? Another possibility is that the person you awarded Best response to could have been banned and had their account deleted but unless you award Best Response to the same person for all 5 unresolved discussions, I find that highly unlikely. Try messaging Mylot and see if they have an explanation for you. It may just be a glitch in their system again.

It is most annoying really and I know that in at least 2 instances the people have not been banned as they are still very active members here. wow. your discussions have 400 to 800 responses in them? i have never gotten so much response for my discussions. i think it is just too labourious to go through them all again to award a best response. better off just leaving them alone.

Well, it is only 2 of the discussions that I have started that have that many responses and others have only received a couple. It all balances out. I would prefer to resolve all my discussions, and think that awarding someone best response is an acknowledgement that they put a good effort into their response. Thank you for your input into the discussion all the same. :)
