beauty: weapon, curse or blessing

Let me tell you a story. It is said that once upon a time, a very kind and beautiful maiden named Isabel lived in the barrio. Many young men wanted to marry Isabel; but she vowed to serve God alone. So she devoted most of her time to prayer. Inspite of this, suitors continued to flock to her house. One day she decided to put an end to the visits once and for all. She called all her suitors to her house and told them. "I will give my hand in marriage to anyone of you who can in one night build a bridge across the bay." I wonder if anyone ever did. Of course this is just a legend. Real life situations could be less dramatic than that. Or could they? Do share your experiences. Have a gerat time posting.

Beauty is an asset I agree but the beauty inside is something that can never go away and unlike beauty that is outside that can repaired and reconstructeed by a surgeon the inner beauty is one that can not be changed on someone's whim and fancy, when it comes to inner beauty it is either we have it or do not have it. Although exterior beauty can attract a lot of people but it is ultimately the internal beauty that shall keep everyone beside you. For all beauty (external) shall fade one day but for the beauty that burns within you all the time. well that's me dear thanks for asking :) PS I like your new image.... you love your cd's don't you?

:) Guilty as charged, I'm crazy inlove with cds. So it really is the beauty within our hearts that ultimately will win everyone and not appearances. I do believe that too DeaXyza. Im happy you could drop in :) Good day to you!

Wow DeaXyza, well honestly I've never thought of it that way. You have great points there +++. Come to think of it, yes, as they say, BEAUTY is in the EYES of the BEHOLDER right? I find nothing beautiful in lizards *shivers*. But I guess I have to be thankful if they keep spiders away. I'm so afraid of those 8-legged animals. :)

tks muzick and good day to you too. I also forgot to add beauty is as beauty does. Also beauty in perception might be a bit different from your's too. Beauty could be the very lizard you hate but it is the one that keeps your house clean of flies and spiders,Or the snakes that keep the field free of the mouse that destroys crops. Now wouldn't a farmer love the very snake that we might raise our sticks on? So what is beauty? beauty for the farmer is the snake and for me is the beautiful nature. Beauty by nature is always prettier than the one aquired like our innerself. It is (innerself)the ultimately the most beautiful in the world which can appreciate beauty in varying degrees (it could be the hag looking woman/man who helps us keep the restroom clean or the 3 month old baby in a pram sleeping contendedly or a beautiful woman/handsome man) we all should view inner beauty to keep friends by. I agree outer beauty gets you to places that is hard for average/bad looking people to get to much easily. but if you could use outer beauty for good causes oh what a beautiful purpose the beauty shall serve.

Beauty is always a blessing. how can it not be, its feels good to be beautiful. for me beauty lies more from within than from without. beauty is meant to be a blessing, no doubt. however, ppl are upto using it as a weapon which again is adding to the curse on earth. i think, judicious use of beauty is necessary and the story that, you have just stated, is one such instance, where, something beneficial might have been built for the sake of beauty.

Haha you make me giggle so mimpi. And I'm past the stage where giggling looks cute. I look downright silly giggling over the computer. That added comment made my day. Reminded me to work on that crazy scheme of mine. . . my "what-day?" friend. My memory is failing ;) Yes, I have to agree +++ . You do say things beautifully. So I might add you are beautiful up there, not only inside. Indeed beauty has its benefits to all mankind, if only. Im sincerely grateful you graced this discussion :)

I am an old romantic and I think someone who really loved her would find a way to build a bridge across the bay , I personally think beauty attracts but the person under the beauty has to be nice for the friendship or love to stay , I think the saying " beauty is skin deep" is really true , of course it is nice to have both xx

Hello weemam. So sorry mam, this took so long in coming. I was caught up and lost myself in myLOt hehehe. I wish I had both hahaha. But you are right, I would rather have the lasting beauty than the one that fades. I am a slightly younger romantic than you hihihi and I would like to believe someone would do everything in his power to build me a bridge *sigh*. Thanks so much for dropping in. Hugs.

A person who has been blessed with beauty are pretty lucky in life. People judge others by how they look. For example, if a beatiful woman applies for a job and has the same qualifications with another average looking woman, almost definitely, the job will go to the latter. A person blessed with good looks, I think, do not have to work as hard as an average looking person. He/She will always be that popular person and most of the time being sought after. But, not necessarily they'll have a beautiful heart. I've come across a few good-looking people who are rather selfish, self-centred and thinks that they are God's greatest gift on Earth..... So, it all depends on the context of beauty itself, how people use it to their advantage or how they are being manipulated with it......

Hi syain1972. I have met some people like that too. You know, I would rather look like a hag and be beautiful inside than be beautiful outside with no heart inside. So sad to say, I have experienced that job thing before. A job that I felt I was more than qualified to have went to someone who looked nicer than me. That's life. Appearances it seems matter a lot. It is nice of you to drop in today. I highly appreciate it :)

Its a blessing coz not everyone is given the gift of beauty and that if you are beautifull indie and outside then that could be a more blessing.

That is quite true. Beauty should be treated with reverence and as such be accepted as a blessing. Thank you Zelmarq for taking time out to drop in here. I appreciate it :)

I would say beauty is an asset - something nice to have but is not necessary and is not permanent. Inner beauty is what one should be proud of and strive to have. It will last a lifetime and you're more blessed cause the people who loves love you for real for you know they don't measure you for your outside appearance but what is in your heart.

HI 7m, yea you have an asset girl! I can tell you, I'm striving to have that inner beauty if nothing else! That is so true, isn't it? Nothing last forever except what is inside, you know feelings and emotions and all those intangible things you cannot see but only feel. Im so happy you droppped in. Hugs and kisses to the L.O.

we always tend to be swayed away by outer beauty but still the qualities one possess inside should never be ignored and cultivated more to spread the fragnance
