Do you pass down Family Herlooms? My husband's father is giving us this grandfater clock made by his grandfather and also a desk his grandfather made. I just love things like that. Of course I am happy to keep things like that in the family and I intend to take good care of it. Do you have anything that has been passed down to you.

I have some things that my mother and father had. I am not sure if I will pass them down tho. My kids dont seem to appreciate some things. My younger daughter might, but my son and my older dughter have not showed me that they would. In fact I was very unhappy with my older daughter after I discovered she "lost" something special in a divorce. My grandmother had given meal a special bowl and cup when my daughter was born so I gave it to her when she had her first child. Some how she didn't care enough and her ex ended up with it.

That's terrible. I have an aunt who got a lot of things from my grandparents. She sold them in a yard sale without telling the rest of the family. If she was so in need of money someone in the family would have bought the items however she never so much as offered. Now those things are lost forever. I would never do a thing like that.

So far, my grandpa passed down my deceased grandma's engagement ring to me since it seems like my other cousin doesn't care about those kinds of things. I think of it as something very sacred to me, I never would have existed if this ring didn't either. And like my grandma, I've been keeping it safe in her jewelery box that was passed down to me as well. I'd be so afraid to wear it since it's a bit loose on me, I would hate to lose something that precious. I love old things so I end up taking better care of them more than stuff like my cellphone XD

Yes my family passes down family herlooms. I have a ring and a pillow from each of my grandmothers my mom passed to me and they will go to my daughter someday. My mom also has the dining room table that belongs to her grandmother that will someday be passed to me and to my daughter as well. Usually things passed through the females stays in the female line being passed down as well as for the males that is how we do it anyways. Like the stuff that comes from by grandfathers usually goes to my brother to be passed down but if he dont have a son it will go to one of my sons later on.
