A fire in the house......

I was just reviewing every body's responses on my last post: "Do you like sleeping naked at night or with pyjamas?", and almost everyone said they are not going to sleep naked because they are afraid they will wake up, and there will be a fire in the house, and they will not have time to put on their clothes. Now if only 5 people would have answered this response, I'll say. "OK it is reasonable", but almost everyone have this fear, at some stage i thought i will go mad. So i decided that i will ask you, Did you ever wake up naked and there was a fire in your house, were your house ever on a fire? What are the odds that in the middle of the night out of the blue, when you all are sleeping, after you checked that you turned off the lights, the candles, the stove and so on, you will wake up and there will be a fire in the house, Did it ever happen to you?????

Well I'm gobsmacked! The amount of paranoia in the world is rife. Never have I experienced a fire in my house and it has never entered my mind that I can't sleep naked because of being caught in a fire! I guess too there is the 'problem' of people wearing old underwear, frightened that they may have an accident and would be so embarrassed if a medic were to discover the standard of their nickers! Inhibitions because of embarrassment and what might happen, but probably never will!

But Tetchie, imagine people that are affraid so much of an accident and would be so embarrassed if a medic were to discover the standard of their nickers..according to this fear they must worry about, removal of body hair, choosing the nicest cloth to go to sleep with and having their hair done..so that they will not be found like that..Lol

It is a funny thing that happened here. It is something worth a research... How come, people from all over the world, fear the same thing? Once I've been to a house that was on fire. It wasn't mine, but my GF's house. We made a joke out of it - because she was so afraid, I took a camera and started taking pictures to calm her down. It did not happen while we were asleep, though. If anyone who saw the secret fears such a scenerio, I advice him to see it a few times more - so he would realy understand it. To fear such low chance event only invites it...

Yes! It HAS happened to me. But thank goodness it was not that bad. And because I was dressed and my partner was not, I was the first one down the stairs to check it out while my partner was still trying to put on his pants. Just so happen, it was a winter night and the furnace was having issues. It caused lots of smoke because it was burning something inside. Because nights get colder than days, most often those fires happen at night because the furnace works harder when it is colder outside. So, has it happened to me? Yes. And I am grateful that I was dressed because I was able to get the situation under control faster. I am just very grateful that is was not more serious. :)

We had a fire and my son and sister were still asleep. She had barely enough time to grab him and get out before the door was ablaze. She had on only a pair of panties and a half tee-shirt. The neighbor she ran to to get the fire dept. gave her a pair of pants to put on, but from then on we all tried to wear at least a loose pair of short to bed for that very reason. I will sleep in just s tee but it must be a long one.

I hear where you are coming from, and although I can categorically state that I've never had a fire in my house, touch wood, there is still an inbuilt fear in everyone that this could happen, even if it sounds so unbelievable and the odds are more likely that you will get run over tomorrow than have your house burnt down, but we've all seen films and watched the news where this has happened to a family and we carry this notion around with us that it could, like the lottery happen and what are we wearing - NOTHING! How embarrassing would that be running out of a burning house naked! Good follow up discussion to the last one my friend!

I have never had a fire in my home. I never sleep naked I always wear my night shirt when I go to bed. I have thought about this so many times in my life what if there's a fire, tornado and you don't have any clothes on so thats why I wear a night shirt because I remember along time ago there was a tornado and this person slept naked and found her in the bathroom. I always check every room in the house included the kitchen and make sure everything is turned off it's a habit that I have every night before going to bed and make sure the doors and windows are locked too.

beach - penguin on beach!
The problem isn't being afraid from a fire in the house, I think this reason from people is hidding complement:the main reason of being afraid to be seen naked while sleeping specially by strangers. what'll you do if a thief entered your house while sleeping naked, come on and f**k me!!! sure the first thing that he'll do we know well and their won't be any space to scream for help.

I'm astounded at this actually lol. Even after experiencing the fire in the apartment building directly opposite us at Xmas, I still don't have that fear. Mind you, I do wear a LITTLE bit of something so half my modesty would be protected at least lol. Honestly though, I think if my home were ever on fire, I would have time to get my clothes on. We have smoke alarms everywhere and there are fire alarms in the hall right outside our front door so we'd know in plenty of time. I always leave my clothes at the side of the bed anyway, and so it would be a very quick dress if I ever need to. It's never happened before now, and I'm sure it could happen at any time. I just feel safer knowing that we'd know in plenty of time to get dressed AND get out safely.

I am one of the people that said I would sleep naked. I have thought about something like that happening where I would have to leave the house, but it never really bothered me. First because I am hopeful that nothing would happen, and second if something did and I couldn't put something on really quick, it wouldn't bother me that I was naked.
