Why waste the time?

Why do so many people come on here thinking they are going to get rich by posting 1000s of very stupid one liners? Has anybody made any money on MyLots by posting several one liners? I see the same few everyday posting foru or five word questions over and over and I am curious are they making any money? I use MyLot to have fun and make a little extra but i try to contribute decent posts. What do you think about one line wonders?

They are not only wasting their time but also spoiling the flow of discussions.sometimes i used to get irritation when i find a one liner or response which is not at all related to the topic in the middle of a serious topic.Sure they wont earn anything for making one line response. They can be controlled only by the effort of the serious members. We should spend some few minutes to report them.

I imagine a few people may have got away with it in the early days of the site, but of course there is little chance of that now. New members see the ratings number climb every time they post and suddenly get dollar signs in front of their eyes, so despite having been informaed that it will not pay they rush about posting "No, i dont" or "I agree". When the earnings are updated it will prompt some to start posting responsibly, while others will stop and complain that the site is a scam.

That is so true. If you look at the post of the ones who complain the most. They have thousands of post but none with any content. Thanks for the comment!

I believe in being short and precise.sometimes you can everything with one line then why to state a long page for that unnecessarily.some ppl ar ehere to discuss things only besides earning money.let them use one liners what s the problem with that.

Y'know, posting one-line comments in hopes of earning lots of money seems pretty silly and nonproductive to me. (What do I know though? I just signed up a month ago and haven't had lots of time to play with it since.) Still, if time's money, clearly someone doesn't value his time much, as the hourly rate for one-liner posting has to be abysmal! Hey, I figure...if it's a fun community, fantastic...if I get a little bit of cash for having some fun...all the better. But that's it, really.

When you have a conversation do you use just one line and stop? The point of a forum is to have a converstion. Pointless one line questions back to back are not having a conversation it is trying earn money the easy way.

i started coming on here to make money, but i now realise how fun it is just to help and answer questions, and see what other peoples views are on things, although i was disappointed yesterday with the pay i received, i spent a lot of my time on mylot, and did 100 posts i made sure most of them were helpful and substantial at least 4 lines i ended up only getting 80 cents, i think everyone eventually realises that you need to have good nswers or good questions, although some questions are not that long.

I have never asked a one liner. Actually, I think most people might think that I am way to windy in my posts. I can go on and on. I have answered one or two one liner questions but I generally skip over them. They usually don't interest me or pertain to anything I might have to say. I would have to say that they don't really make much more than the rest of us since mylot says that you get paid more for more quality posts.

I am curious if they make anything. I seen someone the other day with 1200 post and they were posting question after question about nothing. Some of the post asked the question in the title and just put ??? in the post.

I get annoyed by those too. They not only post several one liners they also post the same one liners more than once and just word them differently. I don't like it because it wastes my time having to scroll through them to get to other discussions.

i think you really figure out a very good problem. i am a newcomer to this site. and i have noticed some people even did more than ten thousand posts. it is really hard to imagine how they could do this. for sure. they have spent a lot of time posting and answering the discussions. well. do they have a job and do they havea family or something. well. i think they could use the time they spent here on some thing else. for instance. they could find a decent job and work in an office. and they could surely earn more than what they were paid by posting and answering the discussions here. hey. why are there still so many people regsitering here and they post and answer the discussions? why do they prefer to do that? they could have earned more without the trouble of doing here with mylot.................

Oh you are so right. Alot of people are doing this lately. What they don't realize is that people see a question and go to it looking to see more than what did you have for dinner. For example: What did you have for dinner : I had baked chicken with corn and broccoli and a hollandaise sauce. I have to say however the skin did not quite get as crispy as i usually like and the broccoli was a little undercooked. But all in all a good meal none the less. Any suggestions that could help make my chicken skin a little more crispy next time. Look at that I think that took all of 90 seconds to type. I think that alot of the ones that are doing these one liners are newbies just trying to up their earnings. Well wont they be disappointed tomorrow when they earn like 8 cents. These are the same people that will get back on complaining about how the don't earn.

I have never make one liners in My Lot. I have read in the guidelines that one liners or "yes/no" postings will be deleted. But if one really wants to earn money one has to put efforts on it. Just working casually will not help. Becoming rich with one liners? I think impossible. It is only possible to be rich without effort is to buy lottery tickets and try the luck. Otherwise, wherever you will work, you have to add some value to it, only then you expect to get some money in return.

Hmmm. One liner response gives very little information to the question and almost seem as if the person is spamming. My initial thoughts were that I have to post giant paragraphs long post in order to make any decent kind. And unsurprisingly that was the case, because mylot paid me 64 cents for 12 posts and discussions (combined ) that I've contributed. But also realize that sometimes one liner answers makes a much bigger statement then a paragraph long response.

"But also realize that sometimes one liner answers makes a much bigger statement then a paragraph long response." I agree with you on this when you are answering a post but I am mostly talking about when you come on and there is several one line questiosn filling up the screen by the same person.

The one liners are kind of irritating but I've still found plenty of interesting conversations to participate in. The thing that I have noticed about MyLot in the short time that I've been posting here is that there appear to be very few extended conversations. People just post once on a specific topic and then move on to the next one. That's not necessarily a bad thing (it's better then having long extended fights or feuds) but it can be very rewarding to get to know people.

I'll tell you my reason for attempting to make money online, and you'll either find it funny or you won't. The only reason I have recently tried to make the very small amount of money using online pay sites is so that I can get some money into my paypal account in order to buy a premium rapidshare account or pay for some other cheap internet goods. Why don't I just connect my bank account to PayPal and put in however much money I need into there? The reason is I think PayPal is dodgey and my last account I couldn't even log into for some unknown reason. There is no point in trying to earn money on sites like these for a living because the payout is close to what they pay each people for daily work in China and most other poor countries. I get $19/hr just for walking around in a supermarket so Ive got all the living expenses taken care of. But because of paypal's dodgeyness, I have resorted to attempting to squeeze out pennies from online pay sites. besides, its actually pretty fun because it gives me motivation to actually post quality responses. I post on heaps of other forums that don't offer anything except for a prize of allowing me to change my avatar lol. So this site is actually pretty good. and i guess there's also the surprise factor in how much you can get at the end of the day.

Thanks for the reply but that wasn't really what the topic was. I was talking about people who just post one liners back to back. But thanks for sharing your story!

Every one should read the myLot guideline for posting reply to discussions. One word or one lineposts do not earn you any money. Better to start a new thread after ensuring that the topic han not been discussed already in myLot!

I have no idea why these people do do this but if they took the time and actually contributed something more and more interesting they would see they get payed better. Im like you I come here to kill time and have fun while earnning alittle and Im tired of these stupid one liners that take up the whole discussion board when Im looking for something to answer.

Yes I got you. I dont understand why some people post one liners too. I try to post five liners. The shortest would be three but I always try to make it more than five but still mylot doesnt credit me that much so yeah, i think youll waste time posting one liners. Mylot wont pay that.

I guess those who answer with just one line don't want to think much and type much. Maybe they just really want to comment or say something about a certain topic. Probably they're not too much after the earnings. Or lastly, maybe they're not aware that it's the quality of responses that will earn them more than the quantity of responses they make daily here on mylot.

I'm pretty new here and this is my newest pet peeve I especially hate when the one liner is "who cares" I'm trying my best to ignore them, but I must say that's easier said than done. Anybody coming on here thinkng that they'll get rich is kidding themselves it's great for some extra money or just to have fun, but really there are plenty of other ways to earn money online.
