Anyone else see something wrong with this?

The latest news is that Detroit just hired a new superintendent for the public school system. Her yearly salary: $280,000. That doesn't include other potential bonus opportunities. Meanwhile, Detroit is closing public schools because they don't have the money to keep them open. Somehow, they can manage to dump millions of dollars into a few higher-ups in the administration. I'm so glad I don't live in the city anymore.

holy cow that is a ton of money. That money should be used to hire more teachers and buy more supplies. No one human is worth that much money.

That money would buy a lot of new textbooks and pay a few new teachers, wouldn't it. I wonder, is the Detroit School District complaining that they just can't afford new textbooks while lavishing this excess on one person? I have yet to see more kids able to read because their superintendant got a raise.

Yeh the people up at the top of the employment ladder sure look after each other, I don't believe Government jobs should include the perks, the ordinary worker doesn't get perks, and wages should be made more reasonable and accountable...I often see the people even getting free tickets to concerts and sports events and with the money they get they are the ones that can well afford to buy them while the poor old worker slaves away and can't afford to get past the gates....something is wrong somewhere in this society.

Sadly it is the same everywhere. They would rather spend money for officials to study how they can save money. Meanwhile the children are not learning how to learn. they are learning how to past the test that they must pass for the school to keep there federal money. It is sad. If this keeps up, there will be more kids being home schooled and more kids in private schools than ever before. and the ones that can't be home schooled or go to private school won't learn anything but how to pass the test.
