Are you the type of person who has a list in your head when you go shopping?

I'll confess. Sometimes I do need something and I have a list in my head before I shop. And those times, I wouldn't buy more than what I need. But some very special times, I am just struck by the "buying urge", I will go browse around even when I don't need anything, and most of the time, I "have" to buy something, and those "something" are not always the most useful stuff for me. What's your experience?

Most of the time, I'll have a list in my mind when I go shopping, and usually, it's a quite specific one. Just like when I need to shop for clothes, I'll have a list for 2 pants, 1 cardigan and 1 scarf. But even more of the time, when I get to the shop, I'll buy more that what's one my list! I think I'll usually stick to the category of things I need on the list rather than the exact number. The only case I'll stick to both the number and category is when I'm shopping for the ingredients for making cakes or desserts in the grocery store. But when it comes to books and DVDs, I would never have a clear list!

I am different! When I go to shop for clothes, I never have a list. Maybe some particular style I would love. I always end up in a big bag full of clothes!

I learned something called mind mapping few years back. So I always practising about it when I am planning to go to the mall. It is somehting like to map the things that you want to buy to something that you will remember easily. For example, let's say I have the below shopping list: 1. dairy milk 2. rubber shoe 3. thermos 4. toilet paper Then you can use ur creativity to imagine a story, ie: "A milk cow wearing a pair of rubber shoe looking for toilet paper because he drinks too much from a thermos." It is very easy and so FUN to remember what you want to buy after u remember the storyline, right?

That's very interesting indeed. And if I have a long list, I could just make a long story. I think that boosts creativity as well.

Yes I do have a list in my head on what to buy. I use to make a list on a paper but I always forget to bring it, funny. For some reason keeping it on my head works better. I try to stay on budget when I shop so If I feel like I have a little bit of extra that's when I get my extra stuff. I'm pretty cheap so as much as possible I stay on my list.

You forget your paper! I tried writing down the list on a piece of paper but I never really looked at it even I bought it LOL. I guess my brain is better.

definitely! i am still young but there are times that i forget what i have to buy when i go shopping. i really have to write down all the things that i have to buy or else i'll forget something. i'll also write it in a sequence so that the first in the list will be my first destination and so on and so forth.

Hello wondericequeen If I want to real shopping then I don't make any list, just walk around and go to every store in the mall, look around and try as many as I can, and buy everything I like. But If I need something and have to buy it, then I will buy what I need then I will go home, and for me that is not shopping LOL. I love shopping and if I have to make a list then the sense of shopping will gone. God bless you *angel www.beautycosmetictips.com

I always have list of what I want to buy. But when I get to mall I end up buying more than what I have planned to buy for that spending day. It's just too irresistible not to buy something that looks good on you.

I am almost the same lol. If I have many things to buy,the I'll write them down in case I forgot something. I usually "add" a few things up when I shop, something I want, not something I need lol :p

That was before, I am the type of person who would go to the market without any written list. It was on my younger days, I am not telling that I'm that old. But I have noticed that I am having a memory gap at this age. I need to bring with me the list of items I should buy or else I would miss something

Same thing with you! I always have the things that I want to buy but when I get to the store I completely lose my senses! Of course I always end up buying what I'm supposed to. But I don't really overspend so I'm really not that guilty. It's just that sometimes I buy things that I don't even use. It's still wasted money even how small an amount it is.

I admit it, I never make lists before going to the store. Guess what happens. I always forget what it was that I went to the store for to begin with. *laugh* The problem with me is that once I'm there I get distracted and end up with half a dozen other things that I probably didn't need.
