Recently while reading the paper, someone mentioned the recall was a hoax to drive the prices up, do you think it might be true?

I haven't seen anywhere in the paper or on the news where it is a hoax. I do however know a few friends who have lost their pets due to the bad pet food they ate...It is no Hoax.

I can't see how that can be true since I haven't seen pet food prices go up. Most people have decided not to feed their animals pet food at all because of the scare so alot of companies are losing money.

I lost over half of my kitties to it was not a hoax.. and I believe this was going on longer than we realised it.. just now they were only caught because there was more of that malamine than before. They have also recalled some human beef due to this as well, make sure you keep up with recalls. - DNatureofDTrain

I think if it were a hoax the news people would be having a field day with that information. I know so many had the list on their websites and reported on it a lot. They wouldn't let a company get away with a hoax that easily. I also watched a lot of news since I have a number of pets and they showed people who were really hurt by losing their pet. I think it really did happen.
