Is C.P. always caused by a doctor's mistake???

My daughter has C.P. She was born at a very well known and good hospital here in Michigan. And I have been told to sue them but I'm unsure if something went wrong because of them or something else. Can anyone help me understand what are the causes of C.P.? I hate to sue them if it wasn't their fault. I don't remember much of her birth because they did an emerecany c-section. But I was told by NICU nurses that she was overdue. She was born 5 lbs.15oz. And her skin was very dry and peeling off. Any help would be great.

CP can caused by nurological disorders that just exist in the being naturally and nothing the doctor could have done would've helped it not be. A lot of people, especially ambulance chaser lawyers make money off of the parents of kids with CP by getting them to sue.

that is true but in my daughter's case so far we don't know,we just know when she was born there were 2 slash marks on both of her temples, she was a c-section so we can't understand how that could have happened, thank you for your input it is very good reading and informative.

I cant believe you have to go through that.I feel so bad for her you should maybe contact someone who can give you free leagal advice and just tell them the situation they should be able to help you figure out if you should sue or not.

Yes I am trying to do that but not sure who the best lawyer would be to contact. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. It has been very hard I mean you never think my child will have problems, exspecialy when I was fine throughout my pregnancy. But she is a happy girl and I'm thankful for that.

Thank you for your kind words. I do believe. They told me she wouldn't live through her first few nights and she will be 5 in November. She is doing well things could be worse I know. If it wasn't for my faith I would have fallen apart years ago. I'm so glad to hear your story and I have faith that no matter what comes my daughter's way she will make it through. She is a true fighter. God Bless.

My son has CP because I was around a chemical when I was 2-4 months pregnant. We have no idea what it was and they said it could have been in passing. He is now 12 years old. It would not hurt to contact an attorney and let them go over things. If it was a result of something they did, you would always get and have money for what they need.

Thank you for responding, I am thinking about getting another attorney. I already have one for SSI because she was denied twice for benefits. It's glad to know I'm not the only mom out there with a child with C.P. I don't know of any in my area or in my daughter's school. Thank you.
