Do we encourage beggers by giving them money?????????

There are negative and positive side of giving money to the beggars. However, there's nothing wrong in sharing your blessings to other people. The money that you give to the beggar is something that you shouldn't think too much of. If you share something to someone, do it without saying anything about your acts. Remember that most countries in the world has beggars and least fortunate people.

everytime i see beggars on the street my heart gets immediately touched especially if it's a child begging. i can only imagine their horrible situation and i can't picture myself in their shoes-if they even have shoes...we are not supposed to give them money coz this makes them rely on begging more and not strecth their backs to go find other decent living. but in my country for instance where more and more are jobless then i think these poor people don't have many options but prowl the streets and beg..

don't ever feel sorry for sharing what you have. come to think of it, you probably spend more on trivial things and not regret spending a penny. what you gave to that girl was probably just loose change in your pocket. for her, it's food for her empty stomach.

There is an aging couple that begs for a living. I'm not quite sure where they live, but I'm pretty sure that my friend (he drives truck) said they stationed themselves out by the Port of Tacoma in Washington.

They have a few different spots and take turns standing in them, begging for money. I can't remember if L said that they drive a BMW or a Lexus, but it was something along those lines. They make over $90,000/year off of other people's change.

Similarly, I saw on the news a few years ago that there are quite a few people who beg in NYC that make well over $40,000/year. They profiled one that makes $75,000.

However, I am quite aware that these people are not the majority.

Every situation is different, and you have to assess it as you see it. Very, very seldom will I give anyone money. I will buy them food, I'll run home and get some clothes for them, whatever. I only give money in cases where there are children, especially little ones.

I guess the best way to look at it is so - I would rather have them begging than stealing.

Yeah like you im also c0nfused when c0mes to this t0pic or when i see beggars 0ut in the street begging for s0me m0ney to feed themselves and m0ney to provide the necessities to their family. Of course i have experience it that a beggar ask for s0me pennies from me. But i d0nt usually give them. I kn0w they are so pitiful to see but i think giving them will just kill them. Everytime s0me0ne asks for me i always remember the saying: if you give A pers0n a fish to eat, he will die. But if you teach a man how to fish he will survive. Giving these beggars s0me m0neys will make them c0ntented to what they are d0ing. They will n0t learn t0 work for theirselves to live. They will just rely to 0ther people. If i see these beggars, they are just that str0ng f0r work.

I used to live right on the Mexico/United States boarder, and it is so sad. When I was younger we used to sneak over to get into the bars and night clubs because we were too young to go to the ones here. On the way back eveynight when we were walking over the bridge there were literally hundreds of children begging for money. They didnt speak the same language so they would just put their hand out there and some with tears in your eyes. It was horrible, and you could not give any money or there would be 50 kids around you with open hands. I always try to give some change because I know that there is always someone out there who is worse off than I.

firstly, if a child come to you without her guardian by her side.. you should have reported it to the police? i think if it's a syndicate.. then you're must be one of the victim.. while it's good to be kind hearted.. but in this society..bad people started to take advantage on kind hearted people.. my friend been cheated once.. and he say.. it's okay.. as long as he had the good intention.. so.. it depends on you.. do you just want people to know that you're doing good? or is it fine as long as you know it yourself:)

Well, you're talking about children, which is a whole lot different situation. It's very likely that that girl was a slave of some cruel adult person who forces her to beg for money. But if we're talking about adults, well, it depends. I think poor people need to be given something that can help them growing and living on their own. I don't think that 10 $ can really change a homeless person's life... He or she will still need to beg the next day, and so on... Poor people need to be provided with places to live and be educated so that then they can try and live on their own, find a job and so on. Giving money is something that can help them temporarily, but it's not the solution.

That child is probably tired and hungry. It could be all she had to live on. Some kids are abandoned by parents and live on the streets. Homeless are everywhere. In the US we are supposed to be the land of plenty, we sure do waste a lot. Whatever you give to a beggar, whether an adult or child, think of it as spreading love. I am blessed and when I can I will give. If something touches my heartstrings i will give for sure. I don't worry about being scammed, if I were worried about that I wouldn't give at all.

do we encourage beggars by giving them money? I guess not, 'coz I know for sure, we only give to those we think needs our help. Whether they use it for good or not. Being a good samaritan makes you feel better than not helping them.

Yes I have. One day at a stop light a women fell on to the hood of my car. I looked on the curb and there seemed to be a man waiting for her. There were other people there who could have helped her but didn't. I decided I would let them give her help or not.

Don't feel bad this could have been a ploy.

I look at the shoes. If they are wearing better running shoes than mine they are not a person in need.

If they are poor I offer to take them to a cafe and buy them a meal. If they just want money and don't want to eat I know they want money for drugs.
