| Okay moms! Which baby products did you find you couldn't live without? I had such a hard time when I was registering for baby products. I didn't know what would prove useful or useless. I thought it would be nice to generate a list for other confused first time moms. I personally have found that I cannot survive without 1. a wipe warmer, the shock of a cold wipe would make my daughter cry. 2. my infantino front carrier, i tried the sling but she hated being on her back! I think being against your chest hearing your heartbeat reminds them of where they lived for 9 months! 3. diaper genie diaper pail, the bags smell great and whisk away those stinky diapers! | | | | | |

| | I love my wipe warmer. I recommend it highly. Also the baby swing. That swing kept my son occupied for hours. Loved it. | | | | | | |

| | I personally found the diaper genie to be a waste. I didn't really use it that often. I found trial size items such as baby powder, baby wipes, etc...to be a godsend! I know it sounds silly, but I have 3 kids and being able to pack a diaper bag and fit some of my other kids stuff in it too is awesome. I have all sorts of crazy trial size things in my sons bag, and I keep them in there so then I don't have to "repack" a bag everytime I need to go someplace. I also keep sample packets of baby wash, rash cream, etc... in there in case there is a spur of the moment overnighter! | | | | | | |

| | I hated my diaper geinie. I couldn't stand to empty it! It totally grossed me out. Instead I had a seperate garbage can in the garage where I would throw the diapers away. This would keep the stink out of the house. I loved the baby swing and the exersaucer. These two items are good for entertaining the baby during busy times~ like getting dinner ready. I never had a wipe warmer, but that sounds like a treat for the baby:) | | | | | | |

| | My favorite can't live without items were: bouncy seat - I didn't use the vibrator part - simple chair is fine, swing, Aveeno Baby products *my son had cradle cap, acne, and scaly skin and all problems were cleared up with using the Aveeno Baby wash and lotion, and a great travel system - car seat and base with a stoller that all work together.
related resources: acne lotion, acne wash | | | | | | |

| | Good advice with the travel system. I almost forgot how helpful that base was and tha car seat that snapped right into the stroller. | | | |

| | I couldn't live without a safety bathtub. It is just so hard to wash an infant in a bathtub. The bath grows with them well into toddler years. These are great!! A play pen. Play pens are awesome, to set the baby in while you are doing something. A exersaucer. The baby's love this. A carrier. Its hard to do some things while holding baby. A carrier is great for this. | | | | | | |

| | I never used any of those things you mentioned. They seem like a waste of money to me and since I didn't get a baby shower with any of my 4 kids we had to buy everything ourselves. The things we really used a lot was the pack n play (our 4th is now using it) and swing and the carseat (but we had 3 kids right in a row) and the clothes. We never had a changing table (you can change them on the floor). We didn't get a crib until our oldest was 7 months and since we had 3 kids in a row the older one had to move out as soon as possible so the baby could use it. But none of our 4 children every used it as a newborn. The high chair got a lot of use. Diapers get thrown in the kitchen garbage that gets taken out pretty much every night. So I'd say the one item we couldn't live without was the swing. | | | | | | |

| | I aree that the money is probably a waste. I prefer to get all of my items at a consignment shop, I swear by those stores! Everything new I received were as gifts. The crib my uncle bought for me is great too because it's a conversion crib. It goes from a crib to a day bed to a full sized bed. And the instructions are stapled to one of the main boards you use for all of the beds so you don't lose how to change it into each of the beds. It's beautiful and functional too! | | | |

| | We bought our crib on sale at Babies R Us and it has gotten used well. It was in constant use from February 2001 until August 2006. It converts to a toddler bed so when our 3rd was 2 1/2 we took the moveable side off. She used it until she was almost 4 and we got new beds for the girls (from Ikea--they are really cool). I was hoping our newest baby would use the crib but the other kids broke it so it is just sitting in the girls room. Sometimes my son sleeps in it but they tore the mattress all up. The baby will probably use it once she is big enough for a toddler bed (next year I assume). She sleeps in the pack n play right now. | | | |
