People Who Eat Pet Food, Or Once Did, I Have A Question For You...

Hi there, Okay, this is not to offend anyone, i will not judge anyone who does or does not eat pet food, once did, or not, this is a genuine question, And actually, anyone can maybe try help answer this for me..... Here's my question to all of you... I'm sure you've all heard of the pet food recalls, and how the rat poisoning and other things in the food have killed and made ill of many many animals, but i was just curious how many people who eat the stuff got sick or died because of it? I mean, you probably wouldn't hear of such a thing on the news, but the truth of the matter is that many many people chose to eat the stuff, rather than regular diets. So, if your one of the ones who ate or still eat pet food, or know someone who has, or does, or even heard of this such thing, please tell me, has this effected the health of the human race as well? Also, for those of you who have eaten pet food by choice, have these recalls made you think differently of your dieting choices? Thanks.

Surely there are not people who actually eat pet food on a daily basis as a dieting aid are there, if thats what your suggesting? I have once tried a dog bone called a Bonio as part of a bet but i chipped my tooth because they are rock solid and not made for human teeth, as i now know.

I know a reason why someone would eat dog food. A friend of mine thinks he should eat so he can give all his money to me. Yes its weird and I keep telling him no. So he hasn't yet but if I said go eat dog food he would.

I'm pretty sure that it was just the dried pet foods that were contaminated, and people who eat pet food for nutrition generally eat the wet stuff. My granddaughter is forever eating the dog's dried foods, though, (babies love thestuff for some reason)and we check carefully before buying to find out where it comes from. The dog actually doesn't even LIKE any of those brands.

Actually the canned pet foods as well as the treats were also contaminated. Unfortunately those were mostly the only kinds that my pets liked, so it took a lot to find something that they finally do like now. Thanks...

if you look at the third response down, i added some links to show that it's both the dry and the wet brands that were recalled. It'll show you a full list of everything.

You know...leave it to you to come up with a question like this! LOL I had not even though about people eating the dog or cat food that was effected by the recall. I wonder if those people would admit to a doctor that they might have eaten some of the pet food that was recalled. Heck, I have even heard of pregnant women craving pet foods for some reason. And no...I have never eaten or wanted to eat pet food. I have seen, smelled and dished it out...but there was no way I ever wanted to take a bite! Ewww!!!! But thanks for the twist on the pet food recall. That was something that I hadn't thought about!

haha, yes leave it to me, i have some odd thoughts, don't worry, you haven't seen about 80% of the thoughts that go on in this head on a daily basis, my hubby and roomies can't believe some of the things i come up with hahaha! Okay, well that would be A) the most embarrassing moment in a person's life and B) probably the funniest and scariest all at the same time to have to tell a doc something like this, oh man, if i were into eating that stuff (Holding back a gag) i don't think i would go to a doc telling them uh yeah i might have kidney failure because of what i've been feeding myself, woof, haha, sorry.... Okay, maybe i don't want to get pregnant now, dog food cravings, oh man, eew, ohhh the way my cravings get sometimes, if i were to have a pet food craving, i would be doomed for sure... :S Any time you need a twist, come to me, i'm the Queen Muah Haa Haa Haa Haa - hahaha...

When I was a little girl I loved those milk bone dog bones. I would steal them from the box. They had a good taste. Today I would not eat them. I have a friend who thinks he should eat dog food but he doesn't. So I guess I couldnt really tell how it has affectted me or him now. lol But hopefully you get some good answers to your question.

That's a very interesting question and one, I will admit, I hadn't thought of. Sadly, there are a great many people out there, down on their luck, who eat pet food. The food that was recently tainted, however, was Eukanuba, one of the more expensive brands on the market, so I'm guessing that those people probably weren't buying it as you can get other brands much, much cheaper! But I do wonder if any humans were affected!

Actually there were several, last count there was over a hundred brands recalled of pet food for this reason alone, and it wasn't only the dry kibble, it was also the treats and canned food as well, as you can find by googling the subject. here's some links... - First this one gives you information on some things, i saw on the news that there was rat poisoning also, not sure if it's in here, i didn't see it.. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070319/pet_food_recall_070319/20070319?hub=Canada Cat - http://www.menufoods.com/recall/product_cat.html Dog - http://www.menufoods.com/recall/product_dog.html Hope no one's feeding their pets either the dry or canned/pouched brands of food listed here...

I've only eaten Natural Choice with lamb and I had the kind that was for overweight pets. We like giving our doggie safe food for both of us to eat, haha ^^;;; It was sooo delicious! but I haven't touched dog food in a long time so no danger there.

I TRIED pet food once, but I don't eat it like its my actual food. I have a dog so when I see him chowing down on his dog food, I get curious as to how it taste and so one day I just decided to take one and pop in my mouth. Taste just like a cookie but with pepperoni in it. I'm not sure if there is really anyone who eats pet food as their main diet, because that is just unhealthy. The food is meant for pets and those people who buy pet food for themselves may be putting their health at risk.
