Are you dying to freeze?  | | | |  The cryopreservation of human beings has always fascinated me. It raises so many questions: What would it be like to "fall asleep" and wake up years later, after every human being that was living on the planet while you were "awake" has long since died. If the human body does, indeed, contain a soul, has that soul moved on to the next realm of existence, be that what it may? I know, I know . . . I digress. Perhaps I have read one too many science fiction novels. Perhaps.
I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this, but there is a non-profit organization out there, somewhere in Arizona, that employs the use of cryonics. If you'd like, have a look at their website: http://www.alcor.org/
My question is this: If you knew you were dying and it was within your power to have yourself cryopreserved, would you do it? What would the ramifications be? Please, elaborate.

There's a lot to be said for remaining soft and cuddly... If you disagree, tell me this...when was the last time you hugged your toaster? lmao
But to some extent, aren't we already doing the cyborg thing with artificial hearts, pacemakers, etc?

| |  wow.. a very interesting topic.. i never heard of such technique.. they do exist huh? i guess i'll be lost.. if i fell asleep and wake up years later.. after all my friends and family have long died.. it does sound like a drama that i watch.. i do believe that every body contains a soul.. we're actually a soul living in a body. isn't that true? even if we are dead.. it's only our body that is dead.. our soul will remain.. and i do believe in reincarnation.. so i don't actually know whether the soul will move on to the next real of existence or not if we're being freeze this way :)

| |  i used to live in arizona-i could swear alcor had a problem with the tanks once.
i'd consider it.but if the soul vacates the body truly,it might end up being zombie like.they'll also need to repair cell damage from freezing.
i'd probably go for brain only freezing and just tell them to regrow the body.
