organizing my stuff | | How do you keep your scrapbooking supplies organized? I find I spend a lot of time shuffling through all my stuff before I can really get anything done.

Sort out your paper and other items according to color, theme, or some other organizational scheme, and put similar items together in a ziplock bag. I put solid colored cardstock in one bag and printed cardstock in another. Depending on how much you have, you may want to split it up a bit more than that.
The boxes are useful for things like adhesives, brads, ribbon, and other small, non-flat items. Sort those out by type, label the boxes, and find a good shelf to store them on. Then it's much easier to choose the one you need, and you will have less to shuffle through before you can get started.

| Suzika101 (48) | 3 years ago | Good advice. It is important to keep even scraps because paper costs money!! I am not so much into the brads and things like that in my scrapbooks, but I also do a little card making. Those things really are not as organized yet. I di make my own Christmas cards this year!

I'm collecting boxes that will work for storage. AS well as binders and any bins I find at goodwill.
I'm going to have to invest in a good photosafe box as I rarely get photos developed and when I do it's between 100-200 photos. Digital is good, but I procrastinate in developing. That's why I've got to get organized and get some scrapbooking done. I don't want my mess to multiply by the time my kids graduate from high school.

| Suzika101 (48) | 3 years ago | I used to do most of my scrapbooking only on special days with friends like you say. Then, when it was over, I would leave my scrapbooking stuff in the dining room for a day or two and do some more. My problem is I am the one who cannot live with the mess. At least not if I see it right when I come in my door after a long hard day at work! I like to enter a clean, inviting home. Clutter feels too busy. Now, I crammed a 6' x 3' table into our computer room. I love it because I can close the door on it. LOL My computer is also handy when I want to take a break from my scrapbooking. Sometimes I get stuck on a page and go online to look for inspiration. I also scanned a lot of my photos that were older. That way I still have a digital copy. I did get a nice digital for Christmas this year. I find that I do procrastinate on getting them printed. But, I always used to leave film in the drawer before so it is no different I guess. I signed up to sell Creative Memories scrapbooking supplies so now I have a few more things to organize. My next thing is to add some shelves over my table. My son got some neat cubbie type shelving from Target. Who would have thought that my formerly sloppy son would ever teach me about organizing. Thank goodness he changed!!!Thanks for the info and keep scrappin', Suz

| Suzika101 (48) | 3 years ago | You may just find some cupboards at a yard sale too. How do you like being in the basement? I thought of moving mine to a larger bedroom upstairs. I wasn't sure I wanted to go up there all by myself to do it. Right now I am in the computer room where I crammed in a table. We have 2 computers, 2 File Cabinets, a dresser, bookshelf and 6x3 table in a room about 8x10!! It is cozy.... I call it "the hole." But, what I like is I can close the door and it can be cluttered and it doesn't bother me. And, my sweetheart is on the computer reading the news or playing his guitar a lot when I am in there. We talk about each having a separate room for our hobby stuff. But, I don't know if I would like it.

Rickrocks8 (851) | 3 years ago | You know I love the basement for the simple fact that is my table gets to be a mess I do not feel like I need to clean it up. It can stay messy down there for all I care. It's all picked up right now. BUt that is the best part for me! If it were in a bedroom I would feel I need to keep it nice.
