With the nice weather coming it seems like an even better time for parties....although i have to admit, I can make an arguement for a party any time of the year!

My friends and I love to throw "themed parties", meaning we like to center the food, drinks, decorations and even our outfits around a central theme. I just feel it adds a bit of creativity and fum, and I love to see the different ways that people inturpet the theme.

Some of the themes we have done are...a New Years Luau, a pirate party, many Hallowen gatherings, a Badminton Beatdown (compelete with badminton tournament), A monkey party, and a New year's pajama party (this included all breakfast food and "sleepover movies").

I'm always looking for new ideas and would love to hear what some of you have done for theme parties.

Since our 14 X 32 patio is decorated in a nautical theme and since we usually incorporate our hot tub into the party, our parties are usually on that topic. Nautical, tropical, island type themes. It's fun and economical and adding little things and changing them around keeps within my party budget most of the time.

Yeah...a "tiki" themed party is one of our favorites too. It's fun to gecorate for and you can find little touches that go a long way.

Although we do not have a pool, I simply love having a pool party. We do have a huge blow up pool with a slide and basketball hoop, and although it is not a real pool, people still have so much fun.

OOO! Nothing wrong with a big blow-up pool. In fact I think that's pretty cool. It sounds like a great one too, a slide and a basketball hoop. Color me jealous!

My friends and I are HUGE Halloween people. We love it. We often do theme costumes in fact.
A retro party sounds like a pretty fun idea. I like the idea of "back to basics" in our increasingly complicated society.

What a blast!!!! I want to move by you! LOL

I homeschooled my 3 kids and we would get together with other homeschoolers (my best friends 3 kids) and create different parties too, in order to celebrate and learn about a subject.

When Titanic first came out there was such hoopla about the movie that it caused a real craze in kids wanting to learn about this "true story". I threw a Titanic party complete with an authentic menu. We dressed the part and pretended to board the ship. We chose if we wanted to be "poor" or "rich" and got to play that part. You'd be surprised how many chose the "poor" after they saw the movie and how the poor acted versus the rich! We also watched the old black and white version of the movie while we ate. We danced to music like they did on the movie and even said our "blessings" as our ship sank. It was so much fun!

You have to check out http://www.foodnetwork.com and look up Sandra Lee. She does themed things constantly!

We've had pirate parties too to celebrate and watch Pirates of The Carribean! That was a blast. We also had a 101 Dalmations party, complete with bone shaped PB&J sandwiches, bowls of "puppy chow" (chocolate and peanut butter chex mix) served up in new dog dishes and Cheetos Paws.

I'm like you...... love to have adventures and why not enjoy life while you can!!!!?

That Titanic party sounds AMAZING!!!!! What a great way for your kids to learn! That's so much better than just reading a book.

Pirate parties are great aren't they. It was pretty funns to see a bunch of 20-somethings hitting a pirate ship shaped pinata and the diving for all the chocolate gold coins that feel out!

I think learning around and through parties is great. After seeing he movie "300" I've been thinking about trying to have a "sparta" themed party. But those Spartans are pretty tough, not sure how much they partied. Perhaps a "Rome" themed party might be better. The Romans were partiers :-)

For my birthday one year we had the most amazing Harry Potter themed party. We all dressed up, ate themed snacks, and even tried to make Butterbeer. I can't tell you how much fun it was! We even got our own wands and decorated the place with some plaster gargoyles and signs for the locations in the books. My sister even took the time to dress up like Sirius Black in his Wanted poster from the movie.

Other great party themes have been 80s themed parties, Firefly parties (like the Sci-Fi show), and even a House party (another tv show) where we ate rueben sandwiches and watched a whole bunch of episodes.

I really love theme parties because they are such a great chance to get creative. I hope to have a nintendo party soon myself!
