Where In The World..... |
| |
| Given the choice, where in the World would you choose to make your permanent home? Would you stay in your natal country... are you happy there... or would you emigrate to another? I always considered making my home in Canada in my younger days, but circumstances prevented that... I regret the fact that I didn't really have the opportunity. How about you? Where in the World would you like to set up your permanent home? | | World Globe | | | | |

| | Oh yes, Lakota. I like to visit other countries as well. You'll have to try to get here for the little garden party we're trying to cook up. It will be nice if it does come off and a whole group of us get together! Southern Ireland is a lovely place, green and lush and the people are quite friendly. I'm sure you would like it there. It's great that you want to stay right where you've been for the past eight years. This means you've found happiness. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your response. | | | |

| | I have lived in London pretty much my whole life, aside from living in Calcutta, India, for 2 years between the ages of 8-10, which I really hated back then. I don't think I've ever seriously considered living anywhere but London as I consider it home and no matter how much I gripe about how much taxes we have to pay, the state of the health service, the fact that so many people waltz into this country and claim unemployment benefit and get free housing when so many pensioners who worked hard all of their lives are struggling on a meagre pension, etc, I still can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live. My parents live very close by to me and I have a good close circle of friends who are always there if I need them and I'm there for them. My husband is happy living here too and neither of us can even consider living elsewhere, although we talk of going on a world tour when we're retired, which we plan to do when we're 50 years old! BUT we will always have our home here in London as a place to come back to as our base home :) | | | | | | |

| | That's just fantastic Anon. I find that Londoners do stick together on the whole and it's a fine place to live, with everything on your doorstep. I admire your love of the place. A trip around the World is sufficient to give you an insight into how other cultures live and to see the wondrous sights within them, but it's sure good to come back to your roots. Thank you for your response, for which I'm awarding a + rating, as I have most, lol. Brightest Blessings. | | | |

| | Hi there , I live in Central Scotland and I love it , I would never dream of living anywhere else , I have brilliant neighbours and my parents and my 2 married sons and their families all live within 5 miles of me , we can have all seasons in the one day but it is really beautiful , and thanks for the backup tonight , It was very much appreciated xx | | | | | | |

| | Firstly, you're quite welcome to the back-up... you don't need to thank me; you did nothing wrong. Secondly, I've never been to Scotland but it certainly looks to be a beautiful place. I know you have extremes in weather too, but I guess that's one of those things you get used to as something which is indicative of "home". I have the church bells ringing all the time, and the clock thereupon striking every quarter hour, but it doesn't keep me awake at night, because it's just another "homey" thing, which I've gotten used to. Thank you for your response, Brightest Blessings and I will support you wherever I see the need. Thanks my friend. x | | | |

| | Isn't it funny how you get used to things , we have a chiming clock but we never hear it and yet visitors comment on it and we are in the same room lol , thanks for accepting me as a friend xxx | | | |

| | No problem with the acceptance. Yes, it's been the same here... people often comment on how loud the bells are, but then they're either visitors or people who haven't lived in the village long. | | | |

| | In Australia we don't have Church bells ringing. I'd totally forgotten about that sound, but thinking about it that's something I really miss from living in the UK. We lived in a very small village, in a 400 year old house - one of those wattle & daub ones made out of dung!, it was near a church and to hear the bells was indeed very homey! | | | |

| | There's bell ringing practice at ours on Friday nights, from 8pm until 9pm, which gets me down a bit because it drowns out my radio, especially in the warmer months because I have my windows all open. On Sunday mornings, they start at 9.30 and practice for half an hour, then again at 10.15 to call people to church for 10.30, and again, at 11.30, end of service. lol. We get our fair share! lol | | | |

| | If i could choose anywhere in the world to live. I would live in Arizona. i was born and raised there. I miss the sunshine. here in Oregon it rains so dang much. I get depressed. I think if i could go back to Arizona I would. I think i would be much healthier there than here. Whats stopping/? not enough money to go. I am trying to save but its not easy. Hopefully i can make it there by fall. | | | | | | |

| | Hmmmmmmm, yes, I was in Oregon for the Fall, in 2004. When it rained, it sure as heck, rained. lol. I have a couple of friends in Arizona, and they're always telling me how hot it is. I don't know whether I could take the heat but if you were born and raised there, then you'll be used to it. I'm quite accustomed to the rain, living in England and I even quite like it. I find it refreshing and invigorating. In fact I started a discussion on dancing in the rain. :-) Each to his own, huh. Arizona is a very nice looking place too, with its national parks and such interesting mountains and such. Thank you for your response. I hope you manage to get back next Fall. | | | |

| | Although I so very often complain about the heat (or more so the humidity) here, I am quite happy to live here. We have everything we need. Having said that, I don't believe it is WHERE you live that is the most important factor. I could be happy living anywhere if that was where I was meant to be and my husband was with me. I would love to have my five sons and their families living closer, but since they are spread in all directions, my moving wouldn't really help. Two are only a four hour drive away, one is a two day drive and the other two are long and very long flights. I'm happy to stay where I am, but I would like to travel the Australian outback and I'd also like to see Scandinavia - and of course I'm planning on a garden party in England! | | | | | | |
Darkwing (7548)

| | I don't think I could stand the heat either, Cloud. I wouldn't last 2 minutes in a hot country. However, it's good that you're happy living where you are. Travelling is fun, even if it takes a long time to get from A-B. The added glory of a garden party in England is that, it would be in our summer and your winter which isn't a lot different, I know, but would make the travelling more enjoyable. Thank you for your response, Cloud and Brightest Blessings. | | | |

| | Hello Darkwing. Hubby and I (and our animals too) emigrated to Australia around 12 years ago from the UK. I remember the day when my hubby came home from work and said "how do you feel about living in Australia?" I looked at him and burst into tears and said yes, let's go! We hadn't been to Oz before and we were originally going to settle in Sydney, but that got changed to Melbourne. Man were we disappointed, but having visited Sydney - i'm glad we live in Melbourne! We went on a one way ticket and it's the best thing we ever did, both for ourselves and our animal friends. lol | | | | | | |

| | I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason, Feral, and there was a reason for you ending up in Melbourne rather than Sydney. That might not be apparent to you yet, but there IS a reason. It seems as though you are settled there now for life, and very happy. It's great to hear such a wonderful story. Thank you for your response Feral, and may your life in Melbourne be a long and happy one. Brightest Blessings my friend. | | | |

| | I love living here in Australia. I find it a great place to live. 6 months ago we moved to the country, to a small town. I am finding my feet here slowly, but i love the lifestyle and my kids are going great here. they have a lot more freedom than they had before. It wasnt a big move, only 4 hours, but i like it here. I have never travelled outside Australia, and dont know if i ever will. There is so much to i havent seen in this country that i want to see. But i think if i ever did venture out of Australia i would probably go to England and surronds. | | | | | | |

| | Awwww, that's nice that you enjoy living in Australia so much. You'll have to arrange, if you come to England, to travel with Cloudwatcher and whoever else is coming from Australia for this garden party get-together. I'm sure it will happen now Cloud has the bit between her teeth. :-) Thank you for your response, Kayrod and Brightest Blessings. | | | |

| | I would still stay here in the Philippines. Eventhough there are so many bad things about our country, I still love it here. The economy is not good, but we can still make ends meet. I like the weather even though our summer time is scorching hot. I love the people here. They are warm and very friendly. There is no place like home. | | | | | | |
Darkwing (7548)

| | Very true... there is no place like home. It really doesn't matter too much about the economy as long as you have the wherewithall to survive and be happy with your life and surroundings. I don't know that I could survive your heat for too long but you certainly have a beautiful country there. I wouldn't have any qualms about visiting there, that's for sure. Thank you for your response Diesel, and Brightest Blessings. | | | |
