generators produce high levels of carbon monoxide. avoid back feeding your generator/ choose the right size generator because overloading it, is dangerous.use proper sized extension cords A permanent genartor should always be installed by a certified electrician.

I didn't know this but it makes sense. I guess in cities, people wouldn't have portable generators. But I know that families in the outback on cattle & sheep stations, use them as their sole source of electricity. As do people who own holiday shacks. This is worth remembering. Thank you.

Generators should always be kept outside or in the garage with the door open and proper ventalation because of the emissions from them. Of course, if people read the manuals that come with them, or use a little common sense, they would know that already...it is after all an engine running.

We have a generator that will run my husbands BIPAP machine and a few other things. I would love to have a large permanet one that automaticly comes on when the power goes off but they are so expensive. We dont heat with electic in winter so we are very fortunate there but I feel so sorry for families who heat with electric. The power goes off frequently in our part of the world. We have lots of trees and they tend to uproot or fall over in winter when it gets really bad. All we really need the generator for is my husbands BIPAP. We can do without everything else.
