Did you see yesterday's show?  

i just finished watching the second half of the show. i can't believe shes staying. i guess the guy is going to get help, but i just don't know how she can get past all that he has done. I hope that dr phil follows up on them so we can see if the guy changed or if she decided to divorce him. i'm still in shock that she didn't leave...especially after dr phil offered to help her in any way that she needed.

I, too, am surprised that she agreed to stay the course. I said to my husband, who was watching it with me, that I was a bit shocked that Dr. Phil offered her all the help and resources she could possibly need to move on... and then, right after that, he asks her to do nothing until the guy gets treatment. It seemed like she was so happy and felt such relief to have someone on her side -- and then he sort of took it back for awhile.

I mean, I do understand the logic he gave at the end of at least needing to get the guy to be a bit more stable. I imagine, if she divorces him immediately, she's probably right that he would stalk her and she'd still have no life and neither would the children.

It just sickens me, though, that after all the horrific things he has done, he was still repeating "I want to be married"... he never really says he loves HER and wants to be with HER. He wants to have a "perfect storybook life," in my opinion, and it's not THAT woman he is fighting for - he just needs a "wife" to be in his story!!! It's ALL about him, all the time!!!

I agree, I can't believe all the things he did. I think maybe dr phil sees something in the guy or he wouldn't let the woman stay with him. Maybe there is a possibility for change. I can't wait till monday for the dr phil house :)

I agree with you! Dr. Phil DID say that, when he watched tape of him, he doesn't see "a bad guy"... he sees sickening and horrible behavior but he doesn't think the person himself is so bad. I guess I don't have quite the same ability to separate people from their actions! ;)

I agree with you too, cynddvs. I absolutely don't condone one bit that she cheated on him. That wasn't right... but look at his reaction, too -- he drove 16 hours straight, peeing in drink bottles so he wouldn't have to stop, so he could get there and beat the guy. I kind of think that, as much as she wanted out, even back then, she just couldn't see how she'd ever get away from him. She did say she believed that, if she left him or even tried to (such as getting an apartment), that she would look outside and he'd be standing there or sitting out there in his car, watching her. It sounds like she's right too.

The part where he admitted to locking her in the basement kind of freaked me out... he never did answer Dr. Phil's questions about "what gives you the right?!" to do those things. I also didn't like how the guy apparently tells the kids that "Mommy is crazy" or "Mommy is doing bad things and I have to stop her" etc. The oldest kid even sees him tracking and listening to her on the computer! He doesn't even hide it from them! ick....

I know I'll be interested in your thoughts after you see the second half of the interview :) It was quite a show!

Ok I just finished watching the second show. I think Dr. Phil handled the situation great by getting in some intense counseling away from her. I think they need their time apart to really think about what's been going on and where to go from here. I kind of have my doubts about how long he will last in this counseling. I will be very suprised if he makes it through it and they stay together. If I were her I would have a VERY, VERY hard time being with a man that has put me through so much crap and ever being able to trust him again. But I think this counseling he is getting is very good to prepare him for if they do get divorced. If they were to get divorced the way things are now. She would have to go through some serious measures to ensure her and her childrens safety. I seriously wouldn't put it past him to kidnap their kids to try to get her back. So hopefully by him going through counseling if they do get divorced it will make things easier. What do you think? Do you think he will last through this counseling? Do you think she will file for divorce when he gets home?

You know, while I was watching Dr. Phil describe the counselling to him, all I could imagine was that, in his head, he was thinking "how am I going to be able to track her from a distance?" It was like I could imagine him formulating plans! Kind of creepy really.

I think that you're dead on... he needs that counselling in order to prepare for handling a divorce. He is so insistent that they are going to stay married that divorce will be horrific. But, to answer your question, I really DO see her filing for divorce. She has support from Dr. Phil in all ways, including financial, so I expect she might see this as her one realistic chance, if you know what I mean? The husband has managed to get her so isolated that she doesn't even have any money now so she might cut and run while she can.

I feel sorry for the kids. I have a gnawing feeling in the pit of my stomach that you are very right -- there would seem to be a definite possibility that he would be the type to grab the children if they are in the midst of a divorce (if only to use them as pawns to get her to go along with what he wants). They're going to really need to be protected :(
