My grandson is on his toes when it comes to weather. Last week they were having stormy weather and my daughter told him to get dressed in case they had to leave, he is 9 yrs. old. He went and got dressed and had his skateboard under his arm and his electronic game in his hands. My daughter told him she didn't think he would need his skateboard. Last night they had real bad weather again and their small town has a siren that goes off when you need to take cover from the weather. Well, she had him get in the bathtub, she got a mattress to cover them. The sirens stopped after awhile and it was safe to come out. She told him to be ready to get back in there if they went off again. He wanted to know if he could get a snack and she told him yes. Well, later she saw that he put several boxes and bags of snacks in the bathtub JUST IN CASE. hahaha He finally decided he would not have to go back in there so he got them out and put them up. Kids don't just say the darndest things they also do them too. Gotta love them.

Yes, sir, you better believe he was going to be prepared! Kids do some of the most amazing things! Last week and this week we been having those Texas storms, also! Ever since my kids were babies, and now my grandkids are here, whenever there was an accident or an emergency, they would always pitchin and help with the little ones! Especially when the lights go out,and it's too stormy to go anywhere! One time we were in a storm, and the kids suddenly remembered that the baby ducks, and the Easter chicks were still in the house, so needless to say,I wound up going back in to the house to get the 2 baby ducks, and the 5 baby chicks that were in a box, right in the middle of a storm! But being born and raised in "tornado alley",I had a lot of experience with these type of storms, being the eldest of 9 children, I was always making sure everything got done!

What we won't do for our kids and grandkids huh? My daughter and grandson are just south of Ft.Worth and if I'm not mistaken you are from Wichita Falls? I have cousins that live there. My son in law's work has him traveling a whole lot and of course right now he is gone so my grandson tries to take care of his mom. That was such a kind thing you did, going back in and getting the baby ducks and chicks. I live down in south Texas so my daughter was born and raised where we have hurricanes but she lucked out and hasn't seen any bad ones but she sure is getting her share of storms. Keep safe and have a great day.

Oh, boy, hurricanes, sounds like such a big word! I don't know if I would be able to handle a hurricane, that is just something I'm not used to! They look like they are more damaging than a tornado! And you know what, I like to visit Corpus Christi, and the gulf down there , I actually love the water! And we don't get that much rain around here in Wichita Falls, except when there are storms!

At least with a hurricane you have more time to prepare and those who want to can board their house up and leave town. With a tornado you can't do all of that. The worst one I went through was in 1970, Hurricane Celia, she hit us on Aug. 3rd. At the airport the wind thing broke but not before it read a reading of over 200 mph. Don't want another one of those. Take care and stay safe my friend.
