My pup is 4 months old, n it is a stray one that i adopted. It always bites us or opens its mouth to grab us in order to greet us which is so annoyibg cause he is getting teeth, n they pain when he does that. Also me neighbours are starting to hate him cause he does the same to them. Is anyone there who can help me train my dog to lick, n not grab in order to greet?

He is teething and those little teeth are like needles. I know I just went through this my pup. He needs lots of toys to chew on. When he does this say a deep loud NO, everytime and take his mouth off you at the same time, or shove a toy into the mouth instead of your arm. Be persistant and never smack the dogs mouth.

When I hit my pup with a stick only for him, then he stops doing it. But of course I never hit him hardly its just like a pat on the back, with the stick. Also i pat him like a little slap , if he does it to others i.e to the neighbours. y should we never hit them on their mouth? any specific reason?

This is how I trained my Rottweiler and my pit/dalmation mix. When they try to bite I place my two fingers under the chin and place my thumb in the mouth.Gently press down as to not to hur the dog. They hate it.But your pupy is teething and this is natural.Try getting a rope bone, wetting it and placing in the freezer. This will help his pain a little bit.

You can't train a dog to lick, so putting your hand near its mouth is only encouraging a bite!
Licking is a sign of submission and will come only when you have established yourself as a leader. And a leader does not get bitten!
When the dog bites, CORRECT it! Say "No!" loudly or make some other loud obsurd sound so your puppy gets the idea. Then give it something appropriate to chew on.
And from now on, try not to give it the opportunity to bite. When you greet the puppy, don't get down on its level. Try not to get excited because all that will do is work the puppy into a frenzy. Stay calm, and collected and your attitude may pass onto the dog.

Your puppy is 16 weeks old and is getting his set of permanent teeth. At this age this behaviour is still normal. I am a breeder and when I have puppies of that age my arms are just full of red scars. The first set of teeth is very sharp and it hurts people quite a bit when they are being grabbed. B U T the second set of teeth is duller and amazingly when these teeth are fully grown the young dog does not grab any more! So you can expect that this behaviour disappears by itself within 4 - 6 weeks.
Meanwhile you can put your hand over his mouth and squeeze gently as if your hand was another dogs mouth who would reprimand him. But do it gently! If you don`t do this the misbehaving will disappear by itself.
