Im Getting Out Of Town

Tommorrow the hubby and I are a taking a ride to P.A we usually go there a couple times a year. Thats where the Amish live and they really have great little stores. And the food Ummmm good. There is a train station up there and my husband is into model railroading so he taking pictures of the trains and of course I will be looking at the amish people Im just fasinated with the way they dress. And of course I will shopping too. So heres to a nice day!

Scranton is about an hour and a half away from me:)
What did you do there? I hope you had a wonderful time! I love taking day trips with my hubby.

Kewl Smellsyummy! My cousin and his wife and family live near Philly and so does one of my very best friends. It's about 8 hours from us though, so we don't get to visit often!

We are about 30-45mins. away from Philly, definitely no Amish people where we are though.
About 30 mins. the other direction there are Amish farmers though, I love their produce stands!

have fun terry! oh , i like model trains! and amish, i am very curious as to how the live , and dress.i have only known them from old television programs and movies and i have no clues to their cultural background.share with us your experiences when you come back with photos of what you bought!

I'm glad you had a good time on your trip... I'm from the other end of the state, closer to Pittsburgh, and we have Amish here too. Not as many as near Scranton, but there are a few communities with them in.
My kids are always looking for them, and will occasionally see them in our local stores. My youngest is just fascinated with them.

Will you be driving through West Virgina? I would imagaine you would. West Virginia is beautiful this time of year. The leaves are turning green and it is breathtaking. I am adding the view from my front porch to this comment. Enjoy your vacation.

I have always wanted to go to PA and see the amish people. I would love to see their living style. It is amazing to me the peace they must have since they dont put all the stress on themselves we put on us. It sounds like a great lifestyle to me but no one else in my family seems to agree. I guess I wont be going there anytime soon but I hope you have a great time.

Hope you have a great time...my mom and I used to go to Lancaster Co. in PA all the time...but that was years ago, so I bet everything has changed a lot....I remember a lot of those restaurants...most were all you could eat kind of places...and always served the famous Shoo-Fly Pie...
