Painters Pants? Love them or hate them?

I own a couple pair of Painters Jeans. You know the ones I hope. They have the side pocket near the knee area that will hold tools or something along those lines. They also have that loop of material like a belt on the other leg that would hold a hammer. Well I love the fit they have on me that's why I wear them. But just a minute ago I recvalled why I don't wear them while I'm on the computer. That loop of material always gets hooked into the arm of my computer chair almost making me fall flat on my face. What I'd like to know is do you own any of this style of pants? Are these a thing of the past or what? I haven't shopped for jeans/pants in ages so I haven't really paid attention to the stores displays of jeans etc. I use the side pocket near the knee for my wallet as I can feel it's presense there much better that if it were in my back pocket. It's also a very deep pocket. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Years ago in newfie land those pants were a big thing, teenagers, men, women, kids all were wearing them, up here we call them "carpenters pants", and that little loop I think was used for holding a hammer, I still see folks wearing them but its mostly carpenters, electricians etc...its like the working mans pants...think tho that you need to buy cargo pants, they have pockets on the side of the legs, some folks put their cell phones in there...

Yeah that loops is for a hammer etc. I love mine also. Mine have 2 pockets on the side of the right leg. Ones very deep and the other would easily hold a cell phone. Thanks for the response also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I think you are actually referring to Cargo pants Grandpa Bob. Or they are also different? I love cargo pants and shorts and I have them but I'm just using them for fashion rather than function since they really are fashionable nowdays. I like wearing cargo shorts when I go out with my children since I put put a lot of things in it's pockets too. As to cargo parts, we even get to wear them in the office and look fashionable too. Happy postings!

I do know what you are talking about. My boyfriend was a roofer for 2 years & he wore them all the time because they had a place for his hammer. I like them but dont really know if they are outta style or not. I dont pay much attention to mens clothing styles. & my boyfreind couldnt care less if his clothing is in style or not. As long as he's comfy, thats all he cares about.

I'm the same way. Give me comfort over style any day. I wear jeans that are 10 years old. If I can squeeze my fat butt into them that is. Seems all men like myself want and prefer the comfort. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I actually like them, my boyfriend has a pair and I always like all the pockets that can hold everything he walks around the house and does not look like he has a pocketful of stuff ...

I love painter's pants or "Carpenter Pants" as we called them. Either way they were great. I wish I could find some around here but no place sells them that I've been able to find. They are the most comfortable types of jeans/pants I have ever found. The only thing is you do have to be careful not to catch a loop on anything. I love all the pockets though. I can put things in there and not worry about them fallig out.

I love them myself...as a photographer I find them handy and practical...I can shove some of my filters for the lens of my camera in this pocket...a roll of film in that pocket...etc etc etc....they might not be making a great fashion statement, but frankly I don't care...they are just real handy to wear being a photographer.

I am not familar with the term Painters Jeans. However, they make simila teenage boys jeans here. They have big side pockets. The kids they are cool.

Bob, i know exactly what pants you are talking about. i think Painters Pants look really nice on some people. my mother likes to wear them and so do a few of my friends. They, however, are not for me. i am far more comfortable in a more traditional trouser (either solid black or pinstripe) or gouchos (grouchos as my mom and i call them because we are grouchy women).

As a girl I do not wear these I do not like the way they look on me but my husband wears them a lot. He like the zip on leg type so he can wear them as shorts also.

Their called carpenter's pants, Grandpa Bob, and I LOVE them. I have to wear pants/shorts with pockets cause I don't like purses and usually need a pocket for my keys. When I work out in the yard, thou, I wear cargo pants to stash all the misc. stuff I would need in all the roomy pockets. Ppl always know it's me coming by the clinking of the pruners, wire, and tons of other stuff I carry with me in the yard so I don't have to make numerous trips back to the shed.

I don't know how in style they are because I don't really keep up with men's fashion :) I do know that they are also one of my husband's favorite kinds of jeans. I think he likes the fit too because I have never seen him use the loops for anything. I wouldn't worry how in style you are anyway. I just wear clothes that make me feel good about myself and at home I wear what is comfortable. Sometimes when people wear high fashion they just end up looking silly don't you think?

I know a few women that also love them. yes silly is a good word. I hate the new jeans that look EXACTLY like some I have now. Worn out, holes, and faded. And they want $50 for them. I have a few pair like those hanging around and not being worn. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

painter's pants - painter's pants do you wear them?
I love those type of paints. I use to wear the carpenter pants back in the day. They are just like painter's pants only blue denim. I know a lot of people that still wear them just be careful while sitting at your computer!
