A Child called "It"

OMG I read this book a few years back and have never gotten over the sick feelings it left me with,I am such a softie for kids and could never think about mistreating on let alone doing the things that woman who called herself a mother did tho that poor boy,and now that I think about it she wasnt a mother she was a monster! Now that I am older I have a hard time reading books like this or watching movies that have these kind of things in them.

I've read that a few years ago. Did you know that there are second and third parts to it. The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave. They are both extremely good and disturbing.

I have also read this book. I read when I was young and thought my parent was bad. It helped me to realize that if he could live through all of that then I needed to stop whinning and move forward.
I saw him on a talk show some years back he has really made a great improvment on his life and is really inspiring and helping others.

My heart broke for this little boy. It's amazing he survived. I read this a couple months ago when my baby was a month old. Not a good book for post-pardom Moms. I would love to read his other 2 books. This is still in the best seller section of the used book store I go to. The clerk said they can't keep it in! I look at my 3 children and it makes me sick to think a Mother could do the things she did and for the father to stand by, then leave without protecting the kids. Sad, sick people.

I read this book when i was in high school. As it turns out, the father of my children had a childhood similar to "david" in the book, I introduced it to him and he was very emotional about it. Before him, I have never actually met anyone with such a traumatizing childhood.:)

Those three books were three of the most amazing real life stories I've ever read. I'm not apt to cry often and they made me cry for him. He lived through hell and came out on the other side like the Phoenix. I truly admire him.

i also have read the trilogy,plus the younger brothers stroy of life after david had left its not as graghic but its another life distroyed

Hi Irishmist. After reading your post I thought I would like to read the book. But suddenly I changed my mind. I really have a soft heart when it comes to kids and I don't want to be left with the feeling of misery after I read the book. If I read it it would surely give me a very heavy heart because I would definitely feel for the hardships that the kid in the book had experienced. (One more thing, I am still under recovery from depression which I have been experiencing for the past 2 years, and reading the book might just make me cry and feel bad). I don't know how evil a person can get and treat an innocent child like that. I just wish the kid is having a good life now.

I read this book when a friend borrowed it to me. I could't believe how a mother could do that to her own child. She treats her child worser than an animal and tortures him.:(

I read A Child Called "It" a little over a yr ago in 2.5 - 3hrs..I read it again this past summer...It takes A LOT for a book to move me so intensely but this one certainly did! I've been planning on reading the rest of his books and his brothers book but havent had the chance yet...

another good on (very tough to read for me so I've still not finished it) is When Rabbit Howls....also very disturbing but definately a recommended book..
